Regarding the constant bickering about being entitled to respec skillpoints after game updates, I was thinking: maybe this system of having a choice in what to spend skill points was a bad idea to begin with?
Imagine if skillpoints were locked to the relevant skills and gear actually used (i.e if you want to be able to use an ADV assault rifle, then you have to grind a couple of matches using only a STD assault rifle until you earn enough skillpoints to "level up" in the assault rifles skill)
Perhaps only letting passive skillpoint gain be assignable through player choice or maybe follow the Eve online model where you have to pick ONE skill to train passively while you're not playing.
Sure it would mean less freedom and less choice for each player BUT on the plus side it would be a leveler for everyone. It would also make more sense in terms of context (I mean, how does it make any sense that you play for several months as a scout, and then suddenly you become a super effective tank driver because you "saved up" on skillpoints and just dumped them all in turret operation and vehicle upgrades?)
It's like playing golf for several months but somehow magically become better at basketball because of it.
And as I proposed, it would put an end to the whole respecing issue. You get better with the stuff you use the most plain and simple. If you want to get better at something else, you gotta train with it. |

It would not change it at all. People likely put their points into Amarr Sentinel because the used an Amarr Sentinel. When all the other racial suits are being dropped, it was a matter of "I either put points into Amarr Sentinel or I don't be a Sentinel period." So you move from "most people who put points in said skill use that skill" to "everyone who put points in said skill used that skill to level up."
It doesn't change the request and (in my opinion) good argument for a respec for racial parity. When it comes to people that always "spec into the flavor of the month/best thing" and have it get nerfed afterwards to be more inline with the other options, they will always complain. |

They do?
Personally I just want to avoid some playerbase controversy. It might have a harmful and delay-inducing effect on the devs. |

Skills are fine honestly. Im thinking that ccp MIGHT give a respec when the racial suits are all released or on actual game release date but if they dont, it wont bother me any. Im quite comfortable playing as a gallente scout. Sure new weapons are nice, new suits are shiny as well. But people dont really consider that when they reskill into things they might have to completely relearn to play the game.
Personally, add the skills the weapons and the suits, and let people play into them like normal. I dont mind working towards new and nice things. I do mind that people suddenly want these new nice things without any extra work just cause its in the racial profile of what they wanted to play early on.
The only qualm I have with my suit is I think the min scout looks cooler with the exception of the mask.

How much sense and reasoning goes into forcing players to have their skillpoints locked into items that , A : They were forced to skill into for lack of options ... in order to play their individual role , B : Now you have this forced excess baggage and C : It was not said players fault or at the time a waste because of the lack there of .. I could go on but why ? Fine for those who don't mind but who would replant their skillpoints back into those same items when your points are given back ..??.. now that's a question . Would you willingly put in twice the work ? That's like CCP giving away gifts that most can't use because they are not skilled to use them .. poor tactic in reguards of newer players and players in general .
How hard would it be to create a skill less variant for all to enjoy instead of having 100 quafe suits or sentinels given to non scouts or heavies . There should be more consideration placed into the thought process of this game .
Future Caldari Heavy so watch out for this Sumo Shinobi with a Caldari HMG .
