I really hope not. It's one of things I respect about CCP. Instead of other devs who crumble to the cries and woes of players who demand nerfs only to screw up the game and change the dynamics of it, at times it seems CCP doesn't just jump and run to do the bidding of the community's finger snapping. They asses the situation and see if its "working as intended" or people are just butthurt because they refuse to adapt to the brutality of New Eden
Cause if it was up to this community, Dust 514 would be very different and more than likely it would be an absolute mess, forcing me to ditch a game that I enjoy immensely. I love the challenges of New Eden and how it morphs. You gotta swim or sink to the bottom. I like that.
I always got the impression that devs on other games were exactly the opposite, barely listening to the players at all. CCP have a track record of listening to players and considering their input. What other games have anything like the CSM (or what the CPM will be like when it's actually elected by the players)?
Well we have two different experiences and perspectives.
Since EVE released, before Dust 514, I would keep up with the news on EVE. The lore for one, fascinated me. Also the game itself because I never heard of a recent game that was brutal to new and old players. If you did something stupid in the game and went to CCP about it for a refund of something, they investigated and then basically would say, "hey that's dumb, you should be fully capable of investigating the situation and coming to a informed conclusion". Of course I'm paraphrasing.
But when I read that, I was highly impressed. I have read many articles where gamers complained about any and everything. The devs responded by changing it, mostly every time. They didn't look at the problem. They didn't do test runs. They just saw their cash cows complaining and they gave them more grass to chew on to keep them happy. One game I can think of off the top of my head is Mass Effect. I think they should have never changed the ending and they almost didn't. But they crumbled under the weight of crying babies who wanted things their way.
CCP is unorthodox in their approach. While they do listen to feedback, play some pub matches and read the forums, they also just don't jump the gun on any nerf request. They actually take some time and asses the situation. I can trust that more than most developing companies who just change the game just because a petition went out on their forums and change.org
