The Min Scout:
Essentially the Min Scout in 1.8 is going to have to be more based on infiltration. The addition of the hacking bonus gives a pretty clear message that if anybody wants to hack the objective, it should the Min Scout. A 25% hacking bonus in addition to the dropsuit hacking skill is EXTREMELY useful. However this addition means we sacrifice our profile dampening bonus we have currently and that seems like it hurts us, when in fact it doesn't, well only a little. Incorporating the Cloaking ability is a MUST for Min scouts because, obviously, we no longer have innate ability of hiding ourselves from scanners (even when scanners are getting nerfed). We instead have to rely on our cloaks, which range from 30-80 sec. depending on which variant you have, and honestly that's plenty of time to kick some ass before we run away and hide like cowards while laughing maniacally.
Of course there's the Nova Knife bonus, and that means we should seriously consider this bonus as an advantage and use it. I have never really considered the Nova Knife a great weapon but the amount of damage done is substantial to the point where you can OHKO almost any dropsuit in the game. Even without Proficiency 5, the Nova Knife packs a good punch.
Another point I want to make about the bonuses for Min scouts is that the Nova knife can potentially work VERY well with our new cloaking ability. It's just a matter of how well you use the scout as it's supposed to be, which may be hard initially, but it could definitely payoff later on.
I will however have to concede that there's a possibility that the Cloaks introduced in the upcoming update doesn't work well, and from then on being a Min scout is going to suck. Badly.
Furthermore, I have to mention the additional High/Low powered slots we'll be receiving. Yea you know what I'm talking about, that additional low slot which could be about almost anything you want. From profile dampening to an additional Comp. Kin Cat, this is actually an awesome update the Min Scout is getting. We can make up for that lost bonus by either becoming slightly faster or being a little more concealed under the radar, or just become tankier and be able to make up for the loss of concealment by taking a few extra bullets. Whatever happens, you're given the choice to slightly change the role you want to play for this suit. Again I want to reiterate the main point of this post: The Min Scout is getting a role change, are you willing to change with it? If you don't like the change, then switch to a different scout using the respec we might get, or just say "**** it" and move to an entirely different build.
In reference to how we compare to other scouts. That's too subjective and AGAIN it's based on preference of gameplay, if you like being undetected, go for Gallente, like shield tanking? Say hello to the Caldari Scout, oh you say you want a faster tank suit than the Gal? Well your boon is the Amarr scout. But other than that there's not much to talk about. I mean sure there might be a few ****** things that might appear as we play but after experiencing a boat load of loneliness all these updates, it's about time the Scouts got some love.
For all Min scouts out there who are debating about whether or not they should change to a different suit, you have about over a month of time to decide what you want. That's plenty of time to think this issue over so be wise and don't make rash decisions. Don't just go out posting complaints about how Gal is so OP, if you really think that, then become a Gal scout. Ultimately, just get ready for a really interesting time in 1.8.
