You try telling that to an expert economist who happens to be the brains behind the New Eden economy.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

My point here is that merging the two economies now is a bad idea for multiple reasons.
1. Dust has too much ISK going into it (faucet is too high) and not enough getting lost (sink not big enough). 2. Eve players carry about 500 million ISK or so on average and that's at the character level (not accounting for corp wallets). 3. As Tallen Ellecon pointed out, location helps drive the economy. Eve Online has a multitude of regional markets competing. 4. We lack industry. Currently, all items we have are NPC seeded. This is not good for establishing a free market. 5. To establish industry, there needs to be mineral acquisition in Dust while ensuring balanced availability of said minerals. 6. Heavy taxation must be instituted for any ISK entering Dust from Eve side due to reason #2. Once both economies reach equilibrium, the taxation can then be dialed down until both economies share equal value of ISK.

EVE has far more players than Dust 514, so why should both games have equivalent ISK value?
Part of creating equilibrium between the economies involves player base numbers. That much is correct, but as the dust player base grows and the market is slowly incorporated into dust to minimize market shock, the value of ISK between both games can be the same after a certain point.
Of course, the value between the two ISKs won't be 100% equal due to market forces (supply and demand) but the margins can be close enough.
