Alright that number can be adjusted as needed but the point is it needs to be high, I'll explain.
When new players fight vets in pub matches, there is no hope of even contributing, nothing you do has any effect on the game and you can barely do anything, when new players fight vets in academy, at the very least you're fighting people who are very good shots but have the same gear and skills as you do, none.
There is no proto stomping in academy, because there is no proto, the disproportion is at least cut down and it gives the new players a chance to fight back, and more importantly it provides a fair challenge.
Trial by fire doesn't exist in proto stomping pub matches, it's just gods versus ants, however if you were given a chance to practice, fight people who were on the same level as far as skill points and gear and were just more skilled players, this would allow you the chance to adapt to that skill level and challenge yourself and practice and fight back. Therefore I strongly suggest that newberries are given FAR more time in academy before they're released into hell.
There should also be a character age limit, If you made your character a long time ago and he's just sitting there collecting passive SP, he shouldn't be allowed to play in academy because it puts him at an unfair advantage. So graduation from academy should happen after reaching a massive WP cap or after your character matures to about 2 months old or something, whichever comes first.
And to all who oppose this idea, and to CCP, until PVE comes out, until matchmaking is fixed to disallow this disproportion we currently face, you got a better idea? Seriously I'd love to hear it.

Sure, I don't see why not, but until CCP comes to use with a plan that's effective this is easy and it will do something for now.
Got any ideas for how to separate people based on actual skill level because that would be tough.
Someone came up with the idea to have separate matches you could enter where certain gear wasn't allow, and by that I mean like if you entered a match that was basic only, you could only use basic suits or militia suits, not advanced or proto (just basing it on the dropsuits to make it simple), in an advanced match you could use any suit but proto, and in a proto match anything goes, hell ya could base it on the security status if ya wanted.
