Right now CCP has shown interest on making the Amarr duel tankers, whatever. Though they have also shown interest in making the Gallante solid wall armor tanks. How about no?
Give the Amarr the armor efficacy bonus and give the Gallante the Rep bonus.

Then the Gallante will be UP vs the Caldari and the 25% bonus :( remember the 1.0 CaLogi?
I think the amarr deserve the bonus but not the Caldari or Gallente
Armor and Shields are not the same!

I hate to say it but armor rep bonuses really only come into play in a meaningful way with proto reppers because of the low numbers involved.
Current stats (not modified for skills):* Basic: 2/sec Advanced: 3/sec Proto: 5/sec
Current stats modified +2% per level (level 5 assumed) <-- skill bonus* Basic: 2.2/sec Advanced: 3.3/sec Proto: 5.5/sec
Current stats with skill bonus and proposed suit based bonus of 5% per level Basic: 2.7/sec Advanced: 4.05/sec Proto: 6.75/sec
Current stats with skill bonus and proposed suit based bonus of 10% per level Basic: 3.2/sec Advanced: 4.8/sec Proto: 7.75/sec
I hate to say it but even with a 10% bonus to armor rep efficiency those modules are still not recovering HP fast enough to make a huge difference. You'll get a little bit more out of any time between fights but not enough to write home about.
I say they scrap the hole armor rep bonus and simply give the Amarr back their heat build-up reduction. That bonus made perfect sense anyway.
* I'm fuzzy about some of these numbers a will recheck after work when I have time.

I know I would rather have an Armor bonus than the rep bonus. I want to use armor reppers. I really do. But they're so damn hard to fit and, as Mobius pointed out, are hardly worth it. Especially when I can slap down a triage hive as needed and rep soooo much faster. Armor rep bonus sucks.
Plus, this game seems like it's all about absorbing alpha damage at the moment so equipping reppers in most cases just means a quick death. I think I would have to be receiving at least 10-12 armor rep before I would use them and any more than one rep module is sacrificing to much tank.
I spent half my ISK on gambling, alcohol and wild women. The other half I wasted.

wat. but the shown stats for Amarr suits are pretty Armor focused with the Gallente being stuck with the mix bag. If it's as bad as you say, sure switch bonuses.

* I'm fuzzy about some of these numbers a will recheck after work when I have time. If your tank is more focused on armor regen, you won't be fitting just one armor rep, would you? At max skills, 2 complex armor reps would be equal to 3 complex reppers on any other suit (assuming 10% per level). An Amarr suit would fit one armor rep and stack plates. A Gallente suit should fit one plate and stack reps.
The proto Gal Logi has what, 5 low slots? Then 4 complex armor reps would give you slightly over 30hp/s. Your armor regen would be higher than the base shield regen on any dropsuit.

Give the Amarr the armor efficacy bonus and give the Gallante the Rep bonus. It's funny how Dust barely follows the 10+ year New Eden lore. Amarr has always been the most prevalent armor tankers in the game. Gallente would be second to armor tanking. How did they end up as Amarr as dual tankers? It makes absolutely zero sense.
As for the bonuses I would agree with you there. Amarr suits should be capable of running more armor than Gallente, while Gallente should be able to repair better than Amarr. |
