Honest question  How big of a isk cushion you need before you can run proto? Can you make a profit from running only proto or it is a isk sink? |

Unless you can run matches with low death counts (with whatever kills), then PC players are the few who can run proto consistently

You can make isk in proto if you proto stomp with 5 other proto squad members.
I have a stupid amount of ISK and i still don't like running proto. Adv is pretty comparable to proto so i would stick to that.

I haven't been in an active PC corporation until this one, and I could afford to run Proto before.
I really only started when I joined this corp, just to look like I wasn't a nub >_> I had about 100 mil ISK at that point.

The trick is to not die. The best way to do this is to NOT use rifles, and use a less combat oriented weapon. If you use a weapon that forces you to be cautious, you will die less.
I often find myself dying less when I use a Plasma Cannon that when I use an ScR or RR.

My proto suits easily run 200k +. So in a decent round i can earn between 200k to 400k isk. So 1.5 suits earned if I don't die... |

I don't know, but seems like it should be easy to do if you alternate between periods of using proto, and periods of ISK gringing with starter fits and BPOs. I personally don't use proto despite having it, never really have a reason to, and I don't like contributing to boring one-sided battles; I want fun battles.

Proto suit is about 50k proto weapon is 50k, and you should be running proto gear so that's like 50k+ so if you are making about 200k each game, if you die twice you are not making any money.
However keep in mind that the final ISK reward is based on what was lost during a game, so in theory if everyone was running proto gear and dying a bit, then it would make it easier to make isk while running proto gear.
This game ultimately suffers from a ton of economic problems. Namely whoever isn't in proto gear will always reap more ISK than someone in proto gear. Just think if everyone was in proto suits dying while you reap the benefits of increased ISK.
Further mathematically proto gear is not significantly better than advanced gear. What makes a significant difference is really your skills, and what level you have your dropsuit at. The actual proto suit is not going to make you significantly better. |

Why not indeed.
I have a main and I have an alt, each week I cap my main - most weeks I cap my alt as well. I don't play on either after capping.
Whatever losses my main may make running proto gear to cap is easily offset by the profit my alt makes running adv gear to cap.
My alt has 100 mil isk - I guess costs about 3 mil a week to run, and makes that isk back every week plus another 10 mil. |

I started with 30m in Chromosome and have more ISK then I could spend now... I stopped running "cheap" fits then. have had terrible games and decent ones but the ISK count keeps rising. |

How important is your kill/death ratio? I have a sniper/swarm/assault rifle proto fit...but I don't think I've ever even used the AR fit in battle. Close to 200k per fitting? No, thanks...I'll stick with my militia assault + Republic REs for the whopping 1k price tag. Honestly, if you aren't running with a squad just stick to the cheapest gear you have--I've found that my gun game has improved significantly since I'm usually going to overpowered in any gunfight, so now I rely on picking my spots and taking cover when needed.
Or just ask yourself this: are you happy getting 20+ kills in a match, knowing that even one death can wipe out your profits, or would you be happy with going 10-10 for the match and still pulling in well over 100k in profit?

I went 40/5 in a pro to suit and went negative because i only got 300,000 isk from the battle. Isk payouts to small, protos useless.

Is like **** happens. Specially when paying like a ton of isk and get bad luck being killed bay a random militia merc. It feels like why bother expending too much if i will lose more than earning isk. |
