should practically not exist. It should be based on your suit's scan abilities. Why? Here I am sitting in a convertible with 50+ meters of low 40s precision. And it's better than the LAVs scan stats, yet I can't use them even though I am in an open air vehicle. Why? Why should sensors be downgraded because I am sitting in a car? An active scanner would be much better but those have cool downs and when I'm in a very exposed vehicle I would use my own suit's abilities rather than the LAVs.
I can get shot out of my LAV meaning that in essence: The LAV is only as strong as the suit you are wearing, But: The LAV is only as strong as the suit you are wearing but you don't get to use anything but Health on that suit while you are in a convertible...
It just, well, it just is a poor exchange of pros and cons.

I'm dead serious why should I have my passive scan nerfed when I strapping into a vehicle that does not offer me any protection?

Perhaps the suits radar can't cope with the interference from the vehicles shields? Or all the CPU is used interfacing with the vehicle's systems. Or maybe the computations involved in scanning aren't calibrated for that speed.
Lore reasons are easy to come up with.
As for gameplay that seems reasonable. Unlike with a tank a scout in a LAV is still vulnerable so giving it passive scan seems fine. |
