Dropsuit Command definitely needs a respec, and Dropsuit upgrades are directly dependent on what you are doing with Dropsuit Command plus slot layouts which have all changed. The tree that is least needing of a respec is Weaponry, but I can still see how you can argue that case.
I see Weapons and Upgrades having equal importance, not only because of Heavy weapons, but because your suit largely dictates your upgrades, which in turn tends to dictate which weapon you gravitate to.
So, worst case, I take a few months off from this game. In that respect, I'm almost hoping we don't get a respec

It's an FPS game, not an RPG. You can stomp your feet and yell all you want, at the end of the day, this game has virtually no RPG elements. Therefore, the only role playing should be in your head.
Since SP is not in your head, and almost all infantry options are being jumbled around again, respecs should come.
I for one wouldn't even bother sticking with DUST, I have no interest in heavies anymore, and would just as soon put down the game then sit on all that SP that I literally only use a couple times a week, if that.

I have accepted the fate and my decisions with my character from the moment i made them. I didn't come to the forums after or when they got changed demanding a Respecialization of my character... Stomping my feet and yelling... That's what this is stomping and yelling demanding the game be "fair to them" but its the same people over and over for 4 months. Meh
Well that's wonderful for you, I'm glad you take the game so seriously. My builds are being buffed, a lot. Heavies are looking stupidly good. But, now scouts actually have a reason to exist, and all the AV I could ever want is wrapped up neatly in my Incubus. I have absolutely no desire to play my heavy, and won't stick with a game that forces me to abandon months of work because that aspect of the game holds absolutely no appeal to me anymore.
That's just my personal reason, which I get isn't an argument for a respec in and of itself (though it probably should be), but the changes coming with 1.8 are sweeping and effect everyone on the ground in some way. For the first time in almost two years, we will have full racial representation of dropsuits. CCP has shown that they can do respecs nice and easy now, as the vehicle respec went off without a hitch.
Until CCP has a foundation built, you can't even pretend that your past decisions hold any meaning outside of what you role play in your mind.

Who said I was anti-respec?I'm simply sharing my opinion about how to best handle the lack of clarity around the issue.

To be fair, you are indeed correct.
And I'm not "threatening" anything. I'm just stating facts. I have no desire to play heavy come 1.8 and if I'm forced to stick with it, I will take a long break aside from periodically hopping in to troll a FW match or two. RE LAV, I choose YOU!!

Actually, I think it'll be the opposite, the changes look great. ****, if I had to stick with my heavy build I would basically be receiving nothing but strong buffs. 1.8 heavies look OP as **** if you ask me.
It has 100% nothing to do with efficiency, and just the final realization that I am a scout on the ground and that's all I will probably ever truly love when it comes to DUST infantry. It's not like I want out of heavies because I'm being nerfed or I want to be OP, ****, I barely even have any desire to use cloaks on my scout :/
And like I said, I'm not arguing for a respec because I lacked the foresight to realize that the heavy playstyle would just grow painfully old on me. While I think it's bad game design to lock people into things they no longer use, I can accept that it's the New Eden way. I'm just considering myself lucky in that the 1.8 changes warrant a respec in and of themselves, and thus, I may actually have the chance to save my interest in this game for at least a few more months to come, though likely longer.

I want a respec because fun is important to me, and because letting people make informed decisions with their SP in relation to a totally new framework of suits is important to the health of this game that already is struggling with very low public appeal, even amongst its own dedicated fans.

Weaponry, by proxy of the Assault changes, also makes sense. Dropsuit Upgrades doesn't change anything. I think most people would want to have max Dropsuit Upgrade skills anyway as regardless of what suit you have you will want 5% bonus armor and shields.
Dropsuit ugrades dictates equipment and things like hacking and speed modules and stuff. These are all highly dependent on what suit you use, and thus need to be refunded right alongside weapons and dropsuit command.
