I have plenty of reasons I want a respec. The people who argue against it chant about responsibility and commitment. How come these people do not take their advice to CCP? A little consistency and forethought from the game developers would help the community from demanding actions like respecs and refunds. Why is it ok for CCP to change the game every month but the community has to live with their own decisions? Even decisions made prior to radical changes.
Blindly supporting change for one party and blatantly opposing it for another is hypocrisy. If the nay sayers examine the true facts instead of parroting New Eden dogma perhaps they will realize their foolishness.

Is this really your argument? Why post on the forums at all if you believe anything goes in a free game? Did you eat paint chips as a kid?

So you being complacent is an excuse for the rest of the community to get hosed?

I post on the forums because after 7 years experiance with EVE Online Devs and knowing they are actualy a company that listens ocasionaly, i try to nudge them in the right direction. But After all that experiance I also know they are a company and they do what they want, In EVE players can and have mass unsubscribed to protest but In dust its allot harder to pull off since its "Free to Play" Anyway people are so wraped up inw hat they think is best for themselves, they forget whats best for the game.
And posting "free to play" vertically is what's best for the game?

Deal with the fact that CCP run their own numbers. and they will do what they think is best despite overwheling posts on the forums. Deal with the fact that maybe if you enjoy this Game you should try to SUPORT it rather than drag it down into your troll infested self-hating pit of dispair. You Act like change is bad, and that suporting it is also bad. Its digital stuff in a didgital game, don't get so attached.
Are you drunk? Also your last sentence sounds like you support a respec. Is that how you were intending to come off?

I would LOVE a respec, I could finaly take all that SP out of SMG proficancy 5 for my old old dule SMG fit. Do I suport one? nope. Is it because I hate the player base? nope. Its because CCP marketing department sucks, and they have missed a ton of opertunitys to make DUST valuable development money, and I would hate to see them miss another with all the active bosters people will by trying to skil into the suit they always wanted. Also I dont really see what we gain by getting a respec other than cutting down on the grind. And its not like CCP hasent introduced FW to ease that problem already.
The purchase of boosters is another matter. I quit when they took out the BPOs, it justified the purchase for me. I bought 6merc packs all together. Elite pack. Starter pack. I even relapsed and bought aurum. The aurum was the least satisfying of the purchases and the reason I don't boost.
A refund or respec would breathe a new life into this game for me. I can't fool myself into grinding for new gear they will just change a few months down the road. Up until 1.7 dropped I was getting about 1million SP a week. Now I barely cap before the next Wednesday. Maybe it was subtle changes in my life, or maybe Dust stopped being as fun. I hope 1.8 does the trick.

The idea that anyone cares is misguided. People care if someone else gets something they don't. People care if an opinion is different than theirs. People care if their playstyle is affected. In short people care solely about themselves.
Care is definitely a word used alot but the meaning is foreign to New Eden. Everyone's interested in having an edge so they do all they can to stop others from succeeding. Whether it be enforcing dogma that stunts player development or ought right proto stomping academy recruits. The older group will always try to maintain dominance over the new group. It is the right for getting the head start. It may be a right but I question whether it is right.

Blindly supporting change for one party and blatantly opposing it for another is hypocrisy. If the nay sayers examine the true facts instead of parroting New Eden dogma perhaps they will realize their foolishness. Vehicle changes: Entire rebuild of core mechanics and skill tree from the ground up. Respec provided. Infantry changes: Swapping of a few suit bonuses - several of which had been explicitly stated by the devs as "placeholder" stats, and addition of new content. When adding new content WITHOUT major rewrites of the skill tree, CCP haven't previously offered respecs. That said, this time, it sounds like they're adding a lot of new racial variant suits and other items, as well as the recent no-respec addition of racial rifle variants. Because of that, I'm hoping they DO offer a respec so players who want to use Rail Rifles but already spent SP into Assault Rifles when it looked like the RR or CR was too far off (they were) can reallocate their "wasted" SP into a relevant skill. There are plenty of people who will rush to the FOTM, or to what they're guessing will be the next FOTM if they're slightly more intelligent, but there are also a good number who have invested in a "best fit" option so they can fill their chosen role, but would really prefer to be a Caldari Scout even though I've had to train up into Gallente if I wanted any competent Scout suit with a decent bonus. And there are a lot of Heavies out there who would like to be anything but Amarr, but Heavy was the important consideration, and when those suits are actually showing up, it'll be really nice if they don't have to sit with several million SP locked into a suit they never intend to use again ever EVEN IF IT'S THE NEXT BIG THING.
are suit bonuses on the skill tree?

Blindly supporting change for one party and blatantly opposing it for another is hypocrisy. If the nay sayers examine the true facts instead of parroting New Eden dogma perhaps they will realize their foolishness. I fully believe that CCP is on a solid "NO" to respecs ever since beta was left behind. The thing in 1.7 for vehicles wasn't a respec, it was a skillpoint REFUND for skills that no longer exist. Hence they are still able to claim no respecs since the game went live. This is fine... However I do believe that to make both parties happy (do to mistakes on both sides that I will not detail here), that they allow us to remedy the errors ourselves by letting us choose to have a respec for aurum. I started a thread to discuss this option here and ask all of you to post your thoughts there so CCP can know them: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=118583&find=unread
the entire vehicle tree was refunded along with the skills that were removed. Are we really down to arguing symantics? I care nothing for what you call it. There was an independent poll in G/D where 12 people opposed a respec. I don't believe on catering to the masses. I do believe in being able to refresh our choices when a change in structure warrants it. After evaluating what Dust has become in the last year I feel the changes since Uprising warrant a respec. That said when uprising dropped we got a respec it did not hurt the game at all. We got another shortly after, again no major problems. So past experience says it will be ok.
