Seriously a foot behind the hacking console? We can't spawn on A in domination but we can spawn on the letters in skirmish? Are the skirmish null cannons better technology? Besides this will put a greater importance on logis especially since there will be a lot more scouts and assaults next build and far less logis.

It is irritatingly difficult to take an objective when defenders keep spawning behind the hackers. On some points, like in the research facility, they literally spawn right behind the hack console. How are you meant to hack it safely? Even if you cover the entire objective with your entire team you can't stop it.

I think that's fairly irrevelant to the topic.
Plus removing objective spawning would also encourage the use of mCRUs (if just we had WP for spawning on them though).
Anyway, I lost this battle a long time ago, so I wouldn't bet on convincing CCP to remove objective spawning.

I've never liked the way we spawn out of nowhere on objectives, but at the same time spawning there is essential. I'm not sure of how they could fix it, but at the very least don't give them automatic line of sight with the console.
Also how come when someone spawns, they can damage me but I can't damage them. I think it should be a dual system of nobody doing damage until both can be damaged.

This is ridiculous. If we had it that way, then teams would have to actively and strategically plan to hold objectives, instead of hacking objectives willy-nilly and prancing about the map, as God intended DUST to be.
I don't date magnets, but it's difficult to deny the attraction.

I agree with the OP. Make the defenders rely on logistics to continue to hold the objective. Sure, uplink spawn times are increasing unless you have an Amarr Logistics on your team, but it's not like it'll be minutes longer.
Still, you'll have an Amarr Logistics with you. Right?

He volunteered a response and provided limited information. Another player had to do it for him. If you are going to volunteer to be the bridge between the players and CCP, and you then decide to share information, then you should do so fully.

This is why most of them aren't re-running. It's not their job to reference every single relevant dev post every time they make a single post.
But as far as removing the "spawn on point" mechanic I'm all for it especially with the nerf. There should be CRUs on every point, but the letter itself should not be a spawn point.
Try to kill it all you want CCP, I still <3 my laser.

The only thing I fear from this is the ease of redlining. Yea we are dealing with 3+ objectives but with redlining, the way it is happening now in skirmish, this really is not needed. This does encourage the use of mCRU's but how many people are willing to use them?

I do personally believe that spawning on objectives should be removed eventually to create more strategic play. However, not until players can call in their own CRUs and (imo) installations are able to be repaired from death.
If you remove the ability to spawn on objectives without giving the players the ability to create spawn points (that aren't relatively disposable uplinks) then you could create situations where skilled players could lock down objectives indefinitely simply because opponents have no means of spawning nearby that objective to reinforce it after a capture.
I do think that zerg spawning on objectives as it is currently doesn't make for the best form of gameplay but its the best they can do atm. I get the feeling the devs know all of this and that's why its been left untouched. |
