//:OOC://
First post in the intergalactic summit, and I just wanted to say how f*cking nuts and amazing the Amarr Empire is. They're by far my favorite, in terms of concept. Sadly, the Gallente will always be my first love (however, the Amarr are quickly catching up since I started playing EVE).
The Amarr weapons are, just in case anyone doesn't know, and I explain it a lot, but just in case: Crazy. The Empire builds some of the stupidest weapons in existence, all as a sort of test for their soldiers. Examples below (Potential Wall of Text warning):
-Laser Rifles originally had a failsafe to prevent it from overheating (although it was a mining laser). For no reason other than the want of harm to their soldiers, they removed the failsafe. It normally would never overheat, and instead shut itself off once it hit the max volume of heat it can have without overloading the weapon, something that a skilled Laser Rifle user should be doing anyways.
-Scrambler Rifles weren't built with an overheat device. It can't be said whether there was ever an anti-overheat mechanic, but it's safe to assume they intentionally did not add one.
-Drop Uplinks can cause cancer through the radiation it gives off. A normal empire wouldn't put out something so deadly to it's own people.
-Amarr Dropsuits are the big one. Amarr Medium suits are the most uncomfortable (except the Caldari, possibly) racial medium suit, and not only that, but they function by putting a wire that connects the helmet/suit and your neural systems, causing IMMENSE pain to the wearer of the suit. Heavy Dropsuits use a special kind of fabric that disperses bullet heat over a wider radius upon hitting the suit. Less physical damage to the suit itself, but the wearer takes whatever the suit doesn't. Again, this means a rather large amount of pain.
So just from this stuff, it's safe to say the Empire are building their technology to intentionally hurt their people. But this isn't for no reason. It's a test of faith, more like. How long could you go, taking burns and diseases and deaths, and everything else, just for the name of your God? The Amarr have proven they can go a very long time, not only in lore and stories, but Amarr suits have the most stamina, which suggests that they have the strongest willpower of all of them, going through so much pain and still running the furthest and taking the most sustained fire (or at least they're supposed to). I dunno. It's just how I look at them.
But they're still crazy. There's a quote from I think the Amarr's Bible, or something like that, I'm not sure, that basically says "We didn't build these new weapons, and we didn't find this wormhole. God gave us these weapons, and god lead us to this wormhole. God wants us to cleanse this place he has brought us to." Now, I mean. There's nothing wrong with that. Following religion and taking locations in the name of your Empire and God is completely fine. But I dunno. When I look at laser weaponry that my people CLEARLY put years and years of research, resources, and time into, the first thing I think isn't "God wants me to kill everything". If anything, my first thought would be "God wants me to defend my people". In a way though, I suppose you could say history is repeating itself with the Amarr.
Anyways, sorry for barging in, I'll leave you to your things, I just wanted to let you guys know how nuts and f*cking awesome the Amarr are. o/
PS: They're also the most pimp. Their ships AND their suits look the most bad*ss.

Urk, please unquote my whole big post. That's annoying. At least just unquote everything but my name. :P
The wormhole quote, those weren't the exact words. Read this:
Quote:Is God through the wormhole? Did God grant us this boon, this new technology, a revelation from on high? These weapons are God's new prophecy, domain, and blessing. Let us use God's grace and prepare New Eden. We are God's soldiers, weapons, glory. Our people are God's army. Together, we are the legion. -The Heresies of Hinketsu The description of the Legion, the Tier 3 Amarr Strategic Cruiser.
Also, I assume it's designed to hurt people because no sane Empire would be releasing such technology. So it's one of two things: 1) They want to TEST their people's willpower and endurance (which is the most likely one, and the one I prefer to think, if you read my full post). 2) They're NOT a sane Empire. Which is a complete possibility.

Which technologies do you speak of?))

I didn't want to hijack a thread and I don't want to repeat myself. Read my first big long post. Everything there would normally be named too unsafe and directly harmful to the user, but the Amarr allow and encourage it. There'd be no other reason to do so. If anything, make weapons or systems that DON'T hurt your people.
Also, like I said before, that you probably didn't read, UNQUOTE MY BIG LONG POST. Seriously, all it does is make people scroll down more, which isn't helpful to anyone. People will know who you're talking to if it provides context (which it does), and is right under the post you quoted.
