I propose that we have the the option to equip a Nano Bike Module to Drop Suits that when activated generates a speeder bike via nanites. I believe this would really help prevent redlining since the enemy wouldnt be telegraphed the exact location of your vehicle, and it would just be flat out awesome. Think about it. |

I would hope, since they hover, that they'd be better at navigating offroad terrain. Bumps and hills really slow the LAV down.

I feel like terrain is one of the most frustrating aspects of the game. It doesn't just slow you down. For LAVs, it prevents the gunner from actually hitting anything on the move. For HAVs terrain is a pain to navigate and for infantry, it's very easy to get stuck in the most ridiculous ways.
I really wish there was an actual effort to fix this weakness. |

The more I think about the speeder bikes or whatever their called. The more I think, especially after looking at the designs, that it would be very easy to shoot someone off their speeder bike. It's already not that difficult to shoot a driver out of their LAV. Before one of you says something that you just shouldn't have. I never said it was easy, I said it's not that difficult. It would make sense that the speeder bikes would be faster than the LAVs. Either way around it they have to have some sort of interaction with the ground. I see more speed causing for a disgusting ride with these things. I do however like the tron speeder bike nanite thing lulz. Plus it's difficult enough to get a vehicle as it is

I don't think it would be possible with nanites since you would need some form of matter and a lot of energy to construct the bike. But calling in the bike and having it warped next to you or under you, that is possible.

It wouldn't be magic, unless nanites are "magically" refilling your ammo and nades from nanohives. I was thinking along the same technology line that larger objects could also be generated. The materials, I was thinking the nanites themselves, would be contained within the module in the same way nanohives work. Okay? Or does your degree in what's possible in new Eden say otherwise? |

Nanohives are already close to breaking the suspension of disbelief as is, do you really want to go any further? But ammunition is simple. It's compact and relatively easy to produce. There's no way you could possibly store enough nanites to produce such a complex vehicle. It's not even remotely possible. Nanohives are infeasible, but not technically impossible.

You don't understand, do you? Nanites are just how CCP handwaved the usage of deployable supply equipment. They wanted to justify the ability to create different types of ammunition from a single "pool". Now, I would like to know. Why do you think this idea is so great for gameplay that it requires CCP to break their own lore? |

Then you can also give everyone unlimited stamina and triple the ranges of all weapons. And give everyone auto-aim and homing bullets and scopes that allow you to headshot anyone from any range, with no sway whatsoever because superhuman clones full of combat enhancements should have perfect stability of aim.
Plasma cannons now blow holes into the environment (let's see how you'll implement that) and MCCs can be damaged (even if only neglegibly) by infantry units and vehicles. And you can protect your MCC by catching NULL cannon fire with dropships. On the topic of dropships, everyone could shoot out of them with most weapons and the thrusters would be a deadly weapon against infantry. They would also have flight stabilizing software, instead of handling like drunken cows and no one in their right mind would design something that gains thrust by losing altitude, with no means of safe descent in case of emergency.
Actually, just remove infantry combat altogether. Space ships in the setting are advanced enough to just point pinpoint warheads at the ground and eliminate every single infantry unit with a single payload and no collateral damage, similar to what modern day drone strikes already do. |

The point about stamina is far more credible than your point about materializing bikes. Trained humans do not get tired after jogging for one kilometer. DUST mercs do so after maybe a hundred meters - A distance that ordinary humans can sprint. That is far more unrealistic than some magical hypertech (And yes, portable wormholes and nanomachines ARE magical hypertech) that does not exist (yet) and thus could be usable for all kinds of weird things.
You can ALWAYS just go "Hey, people found some sleeper tech and it can materialize bike-sized vehicles. We don't know how to change it to do anything else, but it's perfect for our mercs". Just like how nanohives use nanites for molecular assembly, which means that the setting should be post-scarcity. Considering the amount of ammo created by a nanohive, you just need a slightly bigger one to create a bike.
Personally, I'm pissed off that you derailed a thread about an awesome idea into whining about supposedly being incompatible to lore. You just latched on a single completely superfluous aspect of the thread and started bitching. I can guarantee you that CCP will have a very easy time finding an excuse for these things if they ever implement them like OP stated. At the very least, calling in an RDV for them would be a real waste. If you don't want a personal bike-drop uplink or bike-nanohive or something, you can always make it a module that creates a huge-ass transformable backpack or just let it drop from orbit, just like turret installations already do. Or are you telling me that drop pods for bikes are ALSO breaking lore?. |

Yeah, it sounds awesome, but would it benefit the game as a whole? Yes, because it would allow players to call in a vehicle while redlined. It's a perfectly viable comeback mechanic. Call in your bike without the chance of those railgun HAVs just shooting an RDV and then break out or Jihad bike them or something.
Not to mention that it would be the simple alternative to calling in an LAV. Instead of waiting for half a minute, you just wait a few seconds and then take off. This would be offset by even lower armor, less weapon strength and being even more exposed than an LAV driver, while having the same amount of speed. |
