Is there a stacking penalty to PDs?
I have a heavy basic AKO with 3x complex profile dampeners. Add em up and factor in the 10% I get from PD skill. I get 85% redux to 60.
Is my profile really 9? I never fail a scan

Stacking penalties yes.
So 3 complex damps would be:
60 * 0.9 (skill) * 0.75 * approx 0.7825 * approx 0.8575 = 27 dB.

Yes, there is a stacking penalty. And actually I was just doing some math on heavies with profile dampening, funny enough.
Heavy Profile Signature: 60 dB - avoids nothing
With Profile Dampening V: 54 dB - avoids nothing
With 1 complex dampener: 40.5 dB - avoids standard scanners
With 2 complex dampeners: 31.7 dB - avoids advanced scanners
With 3 complex dampeners: 27.2 dB - avoids proto scanners except Duvolle Focused.
And no matter what you do, a heavy can't avoid a Duvolle Focused.

PD's don't "Stack" in the same way. Starting from your suit's Profile, you then take away your Profile dampener's passive bonus.
After that then your Complex PDs take their percentage of the remaining. And subsequent modules take a percentage of that percentage. But no, you are not 9db on a heavy.
The most OP weapon on the Dust Battle Field:
One good logi, one rep tool, and a heavy.

Also may I add, how does this fit work for you? Avoiding proto scanners (save the Duvolle Focused) and carrying an HMG, sounds interesting. A fat ninja, you are.

Its amazing on the front line. I used to use the PD to pass vehicle scans but infantry stopped looking too

The scan profile I have for heavy suits is 65dB, not 60dB. With 3x complex dampeners and dampening to 5, you get down to 29.44dB, and are hence still scannable with proto scanners (28dB).
Or are you going by the numbers listed in the dropsuit stat thread for 1.8?
Or did the heavy profile get reduced without me noticing? o.O |

All heavies (both Commando and Sentinel) have a profile signature of 60 dB.

That's in 1.8.
I checked the game yesterday and heavies are still at 65dB profile, 60dB precision.
However if they're reducing the heavy profile/precision and the scouts', then maybe mediums will also get a reduction. |
