As CPM I get access to information you guys will likely never see.
Extending the Academy is not the solution.
Making the NPE far better is.

We're in no position to do be doing PVE atm unfortunately so a manual and more of the walk through would have to do for now...

So you disagree that extending the academy for the reasons of giving players more of a head start when they get into the game proper in terms of isk, skill points (and of course I agree better tutorials too) would not be beneficial?
No I disagree because of things I have seen does not support any other option other than we just need a better NPE and they speak better for the folks not playing or complaining.

You mean back when new players were stuck in the academy for a lot longer, someone at CCP compiled stats which showed a lot of players quit before "graduating" to real battles? It's not a secret ;). This doesn't necessarily mean the academy was the problem, however. Anyway, they should simply make the academy mandatory for the first few games, and optional for players up to, say, 50 000 wp. Best of both worlds.
Would not fix the problem.
