Yea, I know, but hear me out.
I see people, probably new players, going 0/5, 0/8, 0/12 or even worse in every single match and I can not imagine that these guys are having any fun whatsoever. But we need more people to stick to this game if we want it to succeed.
I'd imagine that many people who have given up on this game might return for this event to see if the game got any better and additionally this event is a good opportunity for new players to catch up on SP.
So what we as a community can do is make it a little easier for those guys to get into the game and have fun without getting roflstomped 23/7. At least for one week.
So, for just this one week, I'd ask everyone of this lovely community to only use standard dropsuits, weapons, and modules in pub matches. (you are free to use whatever you like in FW and PC, of course)
I know I can not stop everyone from using proto gear and the trolls will inevitably keep stomping, but the more people participate the better.
even without advanced gear veterans will still have more than enough bonuses from their skills and knowledge about the game to distinguish themselves from the rest of the people. You can not lose anything, except your KDR might take a slight hit, if you care for such silly things.
So, if you are with me on this, please let your corpmates know about this aswell, and refrain from using anything but standard gear for this one week. Just 1 week.
Thanks.
I was going to suggest Noob Tuesdays. The discussion of pub stomps always devolves into one group calling new players whiners and that they should get good and the other camp calling the other bullies. There are whiners and there are bullies, including some of those who answered but t've squadded with some of the stompers randomly a few times and they are nice, helpful guys. They have a point that they are just playing the game as it was intended, to kill the other team, but there is also no doubt that the stomping hurts the game for everybody (except the bullies who like no challenge killing). The solution should be CCP's but it isn't as easy a fix as it would seem. I have yet to play a Multiplayer that handles it really well. So the solution has to come from the players, and only the more experienced, better players can change it.
I'm surprised but pleased to see ML suggesting this, they have been the most prominent and one of the most blatant pubstompers I have seen. I don't doubt they are mostly good guys who just like playing well, but the effect has been to decimate the new ranks. I personally have invited 5 friends, all experienced gamers much better than me to play Dust, even started my own corp in anticipation. All of them quit after one night because of the stomps and the futility of playing without committing 2 months to getting a chance. I think they are the norm, not the exception. |
