So I should worry about those guys having fun but I'm still getting revived by a blueberry in the middle of firefight? The blueberry doesn't even shoot at enemies when we are under attack, but waits until another blueberry is dead and the red is close to death before he pulls his trigger? The same blueberry who complains about a reload skip/cancel animation? The same blueberry who will just sit in the MCC when the poop hits the fan?
And you want people to put aside their hard work to get to where they are now just for the fun of blueberry? I say no. Stop babying these blueberries. You didn't learn how to tackle or play football by playing in air conditioned padded room, did you?
Blueberries need to organize and work with other blueberries.

Nothing Certain wrote:No, but my first game and every practice match wasn't against pro teams, in full gear, going all out. How about you?
Freshman, on the boards, going up against seniors in practice that helped clear out any sinus problems I was having.
The point is, the blueberries need to be taught how to fight. The exclusion of prototype suits doesn't train them. Yet the blueberry still doesn't have battlefield awareness. He still drops uplinks facing the wall. He still revives people in the middle of a gunfight.
While the idea is commendable, the truth is it doesn't train the blueberry anything. My coach didn't put me up against freshmens when we did tackling. They put me up against seniors in order for me to gain experience of what happens when I get on the field for a game. Coaches didn't soften up practice just for us to get a handle. Hell, our T-shirts had on em, "Go Hard or Go Home"
I don't know, I come from a different background than most. Not to say that makes me better than anybody else, that's not what I'm implying. But where I come from, the toughness is what built character and instilled skills that aren't perishable as opposed to someone getting the easy way out all the time.
Just to add, I run adv fits in pubs anyway. But there has been some tough matches where the prototype is necessary to bring out. If I run across those situations, I will do it. And when its done to me, I don't get mad. I find a way to get even.

But where I come from, the toughness is what built character and instilled skills that aren't perishable as opposed to someone getting the easy way out all the time. I see where you are coming from, but the problem is this is a video game, which is supposed to be both enjoyable and challenging, and the NPE is neither of those. It is unenjoyable and brutal for most, which is why we have few new players. What you propose is fine for real life, but this game is what most of us are doing as a temporary escape from real life, as a way to unwind after a hard day of being challenged at work, at school, or on the football field. It's fine for a game to be challenging, and everybody's idea of how "difficult" their entertainment should be to consume is different. Personally, I like whatever entertains me to challenge me on a somewhat higher level than what most people would probably consider enjoyable -- and I suspect most of the Dust/Eve community feel the same, otherwise they wouldn't be playing this game. But it can't be so difficult that a person begins to feel iike there is no progression, which is what being stomped feels like. Then it just sucks, and makes people want to do something else. And that's bad for this community.
What I'm talking about is a mindset that can be applied to all things. That "don't give up and continue the fight" type of attitude. It's nonsense to say "well this isn't real life so that doesn't apply here" when we are in competitive gaming world where winning and losing matters.
If this is just a video game, then why are we even having this discussion on prototypes? Win and losing doesn't change in both worlds.
I was talking with a guy the other day when we were doing some Caldari FW. We were discussing about the first time we arrived to New Eden and the hardships we faced. He said to me, "You know man, it takes a certain character to tough this game out. Cause, you know, you get a major whooping when you first come here and you have to take it. You just have to take it. It takes a certain strong character to make it through that. Man, there were some days I was just so pissed. But I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. It's made me a better player."
It was refreshing to hear someone view the New Eden experience objectively and truthfully.
It's a glaring problem with the gaming community as a whole and its not just with Dust. Games have progressively gotten easier to accommodate for less skilled players. I remember in my youth, the games I played then were way more difficult than games now. Games nowadays hold your hands. Pop up tutorials throughout the whole game and button icons. Yet, Demon's Souls is celebrated and acknowledged for its difficulty but ironically all games were like that back then. Folks have just grown soft.
While I do support game modes that exclude prototype suits for newer players, at the same time, I remember my first arrival here. I went through the trial by fire and it made me a not so bad mercenary. They can do the same themselves.

Corp battles FTW! This would be an excellent tool for training since PFC is basically a dead fish in the water.
