The result is the same but backwards from what the OP wants to happen. If you are shooting at someone and then they have moved 100 meters away your client is being updated to the current state on the server. Your client will attempt to smooth out movement to some degree but the server state will always take precedence. Your client saying you lagged but you intended to move behind someone won't work. That enemy is continuing to move as well and if they have a consistent connection their client will be more up to date than yours and you'll be dead.
TL;DR lag switches can only provide a benefit to you if you are hosting the fight no matter what kind of magic you want to attribute to it.

Until someone posts a video showing one of these switches in play and actually giving you an advantage I'm calling bullshit on this. So far I've only seen people experiencing lag and speculating that someone must be specifically causing it in order to win.

I don't see it as a mistake as this subject comes up quite often. It's good to periodically shine some light on it and how it shouldn't apply to a centrally served game like DUST. Listening to squads complain about the other side lag switching gets old and the myth should be dispelled.
