The week of April 24th, 2013 to May 2nd, 2013 we had the a triple SP event. Four days later on May 6th, Uprising officially launched and everyone got a respec. Again, just four days after a triple SP event.
The week of January 22nd, 2014 to January 29th, 2014 we are getting a triple SP event. Yes, they say 5x, but what they mean by that is only the SP gained from warpoints will be 5x, however the weekly cap will only be 3x. This was done because CCP wanted to encourage actually participating in battles during these events, but didn't want to make it feel like too much of a grind. So really it's just a triple SP week.
Uprising 1.8 isn't launching until mid-February. So if CCP had a respec only four days after a triple SP event, what makes you think they wouldn't have a respec at least two weeks after a triple SP event?

Some SP event comes around every 3 to 5 weeks. I feel like this probably matches up with a server update schedule that we do not know anything about. Increasing players amount of time on the server will in turn increase the highest number of active players which would be the best case scenario for testing server side patches and hot fixes.
We all get so caught up in the update cycle of the client we forget that there needs to be similar updates done server side and most likely on a similar schedule to what the client side updates were at pre-holiday shut down. Quite honestly, ever since that triple SP event right before Uprising hit we've been getting an accelerated SP event in some form or fashion every month. People who think this new accelerated SP event is somehow a sign of no respecs are kidding themselves.

I was totally agreeing by pointing out that the SP events probably relate more so to unknown factors by us as well as attempts at player retention.
I know, I was just complimenting your point with more of the same

Edit:
Oh, and right before the Combat Rifle/Rail Rifle were added. I think it has something to do with big additions or changes to the game. There was no respec before CR / RR were added. Vehicle users just got SP in the vehicle trees back because of the vehicle tree changes. People should stop assuming respecs are natural for Dust. They aren't. You should be aware that not even the missing racial suits guarantee a respec and sure as hell you won't get a respec every time they add new stuff. No one is saying respecs are natural for Dust, and the CR / RR argument is poor. If you believe the people asking for a respec are asking for it simply because new stuff has been added, then you're not even paying attention to anyone's arguments.
