Dust is a great game. It has unrestricted character development and customization in the gear we use. Unfortunately this does not come close to other games hitting the market in the near future on the next gen systems. I want to see Dust succeed but I feel for it to do that we need to have the manpower committed to the game to actually finish building it in a short period of time. I have been talking with other people about the new games for the XBox One and PS4 as well as the PC and it seems like in comparison we are playing a game on a Commodore 64.
Through the course of the last two years that I have been with this game I have seen so many times where you (CCP) have missed the mark on in game asset delivery as well as balance issues and outright glitches or major market offering mistakes that I wonder sometimes if you think that the community would be better served by moving over to Eve where you have spent 10 years developing a really compelling and strong game.
Please commit more manpower to finishing the in game features and assets you have shown us as SOONGäó and have yet to complete. I fear that although you stand to continue to hold some people here through dedication and friendship that it is not enough to keep the bulk of players that we will need in the future to be able to enjoy all the features that we hope to see. It is not just the Dust players I worry about but Eve players as well who seem to lack any sort of connection to Dust at all. I know you have improved that connection through PC battles and FW engagements but it is far too little. There needs to be tangibility in New Eden, not just a billboard saying "Support your corporate Dust Troops, help drop OBs". Not that I have even seen those to date.
Please take giant strides forward and make this game all it can be for your sake and ours!

I think that Dust 514 is so much more. This may sound poetic but I think that CCP is letting us experience the adventure with them. We are a part of their development. They could just tell us to f*ck off, close all Dust accounts and release the game back in 10 years and it would be ready. What would be the fun in that? We would have nothing to say about how the game develops and would just have to play it as it is.
Not everyone can be happy and that's just how it is and will always be. The only real problem I see is how hard it is to start playing. The beginners base has to be remade. Then there are the small disagreements about what is OP and what is not "nerf this" and "nerf that". It will get better, it will be fixed if something is wrong with it(exept the flaylocks apparently). = HINT;)
Just stay calm and realise that creating a computer game takes time, a lot of time if you want to do it well. I would like to suggest to you sir that I have been here for a considerable portion of that development and that you are looking at this from the same point of view I have had for quite some time, unfortunately I also am seeing the marked improvements of other game's both performance and features whilst not in development and this one's inability to balance, polish and optimize both performance of in game weapons and equipment as well as the features which while although it is under development and known to be unfinished, were described as being part of the game through various trailers, posts and dev blogs.
I am perfectly calm sir, so much so that I request this happen. It is not that I am unhappy it is that I consider the other games out in the market to be far superior, and with less development time invested, full games capable of so much more than what is apparent at this point in time and in the near future. CCP can only bungle on this game so much before the remaining players realize that there are other games to play that could very easily satisfy their need for combat, customization and interaction with other players. Mark my words, this needs to happen.
If this game takes 10 years to develop, then it is lost already. As for your new player experience, well I have been through it, more than once. There are several things that need work but that is the point I am making. More development resources are needed for this game to not be left in a cloud of, well, dust. If you doubt me then I would suggest looking at Destiny as an example. The launch has been pushed back to make it truly cross platform, all operating together in the same world, server and setting. I would estimate that in time this game will have enough polish. Until then consider that those of us who started playing in closed beta have already seen several iterations of the fail mechanics currently being employed and do not enjoy the wait.
Mark Jacobs brings up an interesting point in an interview with MTV Multiplayer when he says "All online games have a lifespan." I don't want to play this iteration of Dust forever, nor does the vast majority of users I would estimate. I still want to see on my console what I saw in the E3 trailer so long ago back when it was, just a beta, and as far as I am concerned, still is.

Here is another example of a video constructed by CCP that indicates a far greater impact in New Eden than what mercenaries enjoy, and part of the problem "One Universe//OneWar"
Or this video, that indicates we have an impact on Eve Online Fight your own War: DUST 514 E3 Trailer 2013
This is the one though that stands out as being the one that sold me on Dust 514 even after playing in the Closed Beta Dust 514 PSN Open Beta Launch Trailer . This is the game I am waiting for.

I'm saying that this IS a game in development and I believe that this game will still be alive in 10-20 years just like EVE and we can't be so quick to judge(because so many are). New games on the market fx BF4, Ghosts and Assassins Creed 4 will be long dead in 10 years. Sure there will probably be new AC games and BF games but that's basically the companies milking every idea they get and shove it into the stew and it makes the games overall unexciting.
Dust 514 is a one of a kind game. I've been following this game for a long time to and I think that it is getting better with every month. I'm just tired of seeing these depressing posts about how awful this game is. If it was that bad, why do people enjoy it so much and why do the whiners still play the game with passion?
Will you please name those games in development you are talking about so I can compare?
I have already indicated one of many, Destiny, supports full Open World gameplay. Madden has technical fouls in game if you curse in your living room, Forza has your player racing online against other players and earning you bank while you sleep. These are all examples of games that have functionality above and beyond what Dust has currently, and all with polished graphics, and compelling gameplay. Character customization can only take a game so far before more features are needed.
Dust does get "better" with every month but would you classify the new Tank balancing pass as better? I have yet to say this game is awful, but I have said it needs to catch up, to other games, to other console platform shooters, RPGs and it needs to become rapidly something that was sold to us over two years ago. Death is Certain. A quote from CCPs very own lips in game about the game. What were they talking about, the playerbase? The game? Or the clone? To me at this point in time is seems like the quote is suggesting all three in short order. I am not depressed about this game, I, in general, look forward to the next patch and the one thereafter and the next because it means some progress. I also see some giant steps back along the way. This is my concern.
With more resources involved we would expect more game with every patch. More balance. Less fluff, and more of what I and many other players thought they were getting when they saw the Open Beta Trailer posted above. The Launch trailer is supposed to sell us on the game, yet it left many, myself included looking on to the near future for Drones, PVE and other interactions with Eve Online that just don't happen. Fanfest presentations have indicated that there is more in the future for Dust, yet there just seems to be too much time spent balancing because the initial pass on items was "unfair or OP" and they don't actually function in game the way Devs have expected them to.
We need more people to get this game to a place where it is acceptable for new players, old players and part time players, until that point in time we choke on many of the changes and QQ because we know that things are OP or broken. This is not a "persistent shooter" as Hilmar P+¬tersson says in the E3 Gameplay video. Planetary conquest has been a farmville experience for many and leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. It offers no benefit for Eve Pilots and serves only to unbalance pub matches with Proto Stomping by PC players and whining from those stomped. FW has very little actual sway in which faction controls the FW space in Eve and serves only to make one very tiny connection between the two games.
Yes I am very critical, but this has been a long two years of waiting to see what, a market? No, how about PVE? No, tanks smashing anyone and everyone even at militia level tanks, well maybe I wasn't waiting for that. How about the infamous speeders to move through the massive maps that sprawl the planet in Open World gameplay? No? Ok how about being able to actually affect anything in Eve? No? Ok so what can we expect to actually happen anytime in the near future? I sure wish I knew. Honestly this is my reasoning behind asking for more manpower, more resources and delivery of something that will make this the game that has been anticipated for two long years, since before that, before the start of closed beta, when it was the twinkle in someone's eye.

You are forgetting that 1.7 was an update that dismantled the vehicle system to create an entirely new approach to balance. Yes, they are overpowered. But they aren't broken, even if they are literally immune to non-proto swarmers. Before that they were broken - Insane prices, paper thin armor and unlimited ammo. The new limited clip sizes, stronger armor and cheaper prices even them out far more. Not perfect, but the next balance pass should fix the situation. Fair enough, still I wonder when tanks fly through the air and are faster than LAVs if maybe something got added wrong.

On one additional side note, originally during the closed beta, players were asked if the lobby would be enough or if Open World should be pushed for development. Initial thoughts were that many people believed that the Lobby shooter style was enough to sustain the community for the foreseeable future or at least all other assets and features could be implemented. This course I believe was not a good choice, and I regret indicating otherwise.
The benefits to larger areas to fight in would far outweigh the ease of conflict we have now and enable us to develop real strategies to take on enemy forces such as superior numbers, real ambushes and outmaneuvering troops for ideal defensible locations. We have some of this now but there is very little room for counter maneuvers or long treks around enemy troops to seize victory from their grasp.
There is no reward but the contracts given by NPC corporations and we are left wondering, what are we fighting for. This apathetic look on the battles leaves us doing nothing but honing our isk building skills, and push people to thinking maybe we have nothing to fight for. At least if I am in a capsule I can choose to fight on my own terms, here the terms are random, often nothing more than a roll of the die as to who I am fighting with or against and it removes the benefit of intelligence gathering and planning from the game.
Please move forward on Open World development.

You seem like you want all this to happen tomorrow, it's not. The fact that you are seeing games come out after Dust with advanced features doesn't mean much. And don't bring up what a game that hasn't been released CAN do. Just because games like Destiny and Titanfall look great means little, too many games have passed us much the same way. Remember Defiance? Worthless features, like a foul in Madden, are meaningless if they do not add to the game.
Would you rather them just shut down the game and release once they finish these things? If your answer if yes just quit and come back in 5 years...it's the exact same thing.
If your answer was no, they still have a game to maintain. Balance features and game mechanics are just as important.
What steps forward in your eyes means we are heading down the right path? The next update is huge and is very much a step in the right direction. You have to establish a base, a working game, and go forward. With the slated changes to Logistics suits, when the Assault suits needed balance, I feel they have yet to find the mark in a meaningful way. If it were a huge patch it would have more than just 4 new suits and some slightly changed suits in it. They have yet to have a balanced game since day one of closed beta, are you really saying you don't understand? No, I am asking for more resources for this game, more people who are good at things like polish and balance, system optimization and bug fixes. I want their Market Analyst to do his part and put in the P2P market. I did not think I was unclear in the last few posts I had made. Why ask? My answers are above.

Galvan Nized wrote:How do we know they aren't working on these things? . I don't. What I do know is that every year game studios release games. Then they release the sequels to these games. Then they release the sequels to those. Now while you may say "but these games are not constantly being developed" or "they are games that aren't online all the time" or "but EA/Activision has tonnes of developers and they buy games from people", since 2003, the Call of Duty series has grown by 1+ games per year. They have also developed them across multiple platforms and have both PVE and PVP integrated with each title. In addition to this they have also released patches and map updates mid-year for their games. I think we can all agree that COD is an online game, is under constant development, and has been releasing FULL games since the franchise started. At this point in time Dust 514 is not a full game yet. Has limited capabilities in terms of rendering compared to COD and has been far from what it could.
Now if they aren't working on these things then it must be that they are working on something completely different, no? We need a bigger development team, plain and simple.

Not that their opinions are not valid but some things take experience and SP to master while some are all about how the mechanics of the game work. There have been too many over the top nerfs to many items that seem to have been made irrelevant due to recent new item releases. Some forethought may have avoided having made those items irrelevant or unused.

Expect Dust to continue to be an also ran, and slowly fade away as CCP focuses elsewhere.

I doubt that the nerfs/buffs will be gamechanging. CCPs too afraid to **** off riflebabbies toting MUH 500DPS, thats the only demographic they catered to since Uprising. While I hate to point this out, I feel I must. Dust 514 has been in constant flux for suit/weapon/equipment bonuses and stats as well as controllability since Closed Beta. I see no move from CCP to slow or stop the drastic changes now, even though it may benefit the game in the long run in certain areas. As for the "riflebabies" I think CCP understands that you can only carry so much weight on a small to medium suit size and this is the majority of the suits. The rifle clearly fits the bill, with other niche weapons filling other voids that are not covered by this style of weapon. Catering to the bulk of the suits seems to make sense since the majority of the playerbase uses those frame sizes and even some heavies (Commando suits especially) use them as well. What do you want us to do? Run around with nova knives and shotguns?

CCP time to make us (the customers) happy by providing some sort of plan to implement a system whereby we can go and shoot some NPCs and maybe even "Ambush" some mercs while they are doing PVE type stuff.

Unfortunately for everyone at this point, those of us who have suffered through the worst and best so far, CCP cannot go back to re-release the game with all the stuff in place that "should" have been in place upon uprising launch. I am of the firm opinion that the sustainable approach is to get the main assets into play such as market, PVE, suits, weapons that are all class and race specific and then for the remainder of the 10 year plan to tweak and add to it rather than just continuously nerf/buff the same things over and over again until the QQ stops.
Much of Eve's success seems to stem from the addition of new unpromised goodies each patch rather than the promises of something "soon" then an extremely long (new console to next console) delivery time on the assets. Imagine if General Motors were to market a new hub system that allowed you to put quick release rims on your corvette. They manufacture the special studs that allow this system to work but don't have time to produce the special lug nuts to go along with them so instead install the standard studs (not quick release) and give you a bag for your glove compartment of the quick release studs which sometime soon can replace the standard ones currently on the corvette. Considering the marketing strategy, I would believe that some of their customers if not all of them would be upset.
TLDR, improve the relationship with the community by producing results not promises.

Duke Noobiam wrote:It's easy to pick a single feature from one game, a single feature from another game, and then say that these games achieve things that DUST does not.
Honestly, I don't think you appreciate all of the things that DUST does correctly that all of the games you mentionned above do not do...
Yes there are bugs and these should be fixed (I'm specifically referring to the game crashing), but as far as unique features go, this games is years ahead of the competition.
Find one more game that does this...
1. Integration into an existing MMO game: CCP will eventually provide a richer integration, but the games are currently integrated which no other developer has done.
2. Nice multi-threaded UI: CCP has done a great job with this, you can be navigating and using the neo-com while the game is searching for battle or you are waiting for deployment.
3. Re-stocking dropsuits from battle,
4. MMO FPS including: - Market (player market will eventually be here, but there is a market right now) - Diverse skill tree. - Persisted battle results. - Corporations that allow players to own territory.
The game is not perfect, but it is the first to offer all of the above and it is normal to expect growing pains (particularly with balancing issues) with features that are a first in the industry.
The type of things that I believe we can reproach CCP for are bugs, particularly the following... - Game crashing (at the end of matches and sometimes when starting matches) - Voice chat bugs (sometimes the voice breaks up, the visual indicator of who is micked and speaking does not work)
The FPS game mechanics are not this game's strong suit , but they are good enough for me to enjoy the action.
I'm willing to keep playing and give CCP time to perfect the game. You're selling the videos sir. If I were just an Eve player, the only way I would actually notice a Dust player is if they were to contact me specifically. Running on the same server does not indicate integration, merely convenience.
I admit the multithreaded UI is nice but by itself is only a feature if everything else works ok. Yesterday scotty went on strike, and refused to deploy many mercs to battle.
Not deploying wouldn't be a big deal if we had a player market but right now...
I'm sorry if at the moment I miss the MMO and RPG parts of the game when I log in each night but the problem with coming soon is that the promise of something in the future is there. It was tangible as a dream, enough so to script it into a trailer, so why is it that right now the only difference between this and COD BO2 is the market and player vehicles? Time? Balance?
One Universe::One War was a slogan used for planetary conquest, but atm it is nothing more than a poor attempt to upsell the integration between the 2 games which is grossly underdeveloped...we don't matter one bit to the average Eve player. In fact the only war going on is the actual district Dust side fighting. The war in space? Does not affect the outcome of the battle in the least (short of a new OB pilot), and if we were to fight our wars without eve support we wouldn't suffer for it.
Idk what reason there is for the lack of developing the other parts of the game, heck idk why they have taken this long for asset (racial suits etc) delivery. All I can do is ask them to finish what they started.

The trailers for this game only line up marginally with it, false advertising is usually something that gets a company in major trouble, in this case people are putting money into a game even though they know very little is as CCP has said it would be in their trailers, speeches and even in discussions on these forums...one of the main reasons I am assuming they don't comment much anymore.
Balance == Nerf Buff == Nerf Tweak == Nerf Adjust == do something that they promised over a year ago and forgot about New Item == new skin that has a slight change in the color New Feature == something you or I have asked for as a basic part of many FPS games on the market New Weapon == New FOTM buy it
