Surely if CCP removed blueprint because it messed with the economy, then militia fits are much worse for it, and worse off, CCP gets no aurum/DOLLAZ! for them. Have you seen the amount of people going in public matches with just militia fits, especially factional warfare, spending nothing on the ingame economy?
OK, understandable that equipment is throwaway, and you can't expect someone to constantly have dosh to buy more equipment, so they need something to lay back on, but you can't let them rely on it.
I propose that instead of having four militia fits for specific purposes, we instead lend people short on ISK BPO's...
For the academy, tutorials and whatnot, they get a full selection of miltia BPO's, once they have determined that they are beyond being an utter freshest of the fresh newbie, they get their kickstart package; They get a free 500K ISK, a standard Basic suit BPO of their choice from the different weight classes, (basic heavy, basic medium, basic light... the suits that don't have a role), and a militia secondary weapon of their choice from their faction (so if their ammarian, they can choose an Ammar Heavy suit with a Scrambler pistol, or if their Caldari they can choose the Caldari Medium with a Magsec SMG, ect). Thing is, the BPO kit they got only lasts until they get 1 mill, once they do, its gone, and only comes back they have 500K or less, meaning that unless you really have nothing, you can't go bouncing around in a militia kit.
I would also like to propose a 'no militia dropsuit' rule into factional warfare but thats something else. |

If we remove the Starter Fits, then it is possible to create a theoretical situation where you are unable to participate in gameplay because you cannot restock any of your dropsuit fittings.
Removing Starter Fits and running out of ISK would be like playing NFS: Most Wanted and getting all of your cars impounded.
I'm bored.

Why do people run militia suits.
1) The difference at first is minor. Jumping from militia gear to basic gear gives you little benefit for the cost. Once you run proto gear you finally reach the point of using it instead.
2) Go all proto or not at all. Until you get your skills in armor/shields/weapons max. Out its just too risky to run proto gear without everything at proto level.
3) COST. Militia suits (with improvements) typically cost like 2k to 9k. Proto suits cost something like 50k just for the suit.
4) My new character with less than 1mil. Sp armor 2 shields 2 scrambler rifle 1 and basic amar sentinel easily killed people in proto armor/weapons (I seriously hope they weren't all out proto). Sometimes it did require help, but lots of guys in proto suits got killed. Obviously every time I witnessed what the person was wearing required help since I died.
5) The difference between militia and proto is not great enough to warrant the cost. I mean if I can get 1500 wp in a militia suit and few go above 2500 anyway.....Why would I use anything else?
6) payout. Let's face it you are probably making 150k each match which means lose 2 proto suits and you aren't recovering costs. Why bother stressing when you can just play and not worry about how much you die? |

Good thoughts guys, but I think you forgot about the fact that I was talking about removing the suits when you have ISK, and giving them back when you don't in a nutshell. For all the guys isk grinding when you already have isk, surely its good enough to buy cheap militia gear and use it than to use militia fits?
And for people thinking I proto stomp, I don't. I have barely 28mill isk, and use a Sever Logi with a dragonfly assault, and buy all the equipment after that, albeit basic. |

Payouts don't encourage using good gear.
Being non-reviveable due to headshots/ explosive damage also discourages expensive gear.
Price scaling between starting gear and proto is horrible.
And nobody enjoys a game where the opposing team stays in the redline, afraid to lose a suit.
I would rather die twenty times in crap gear than feel like I needed to hang back after two or three deaths to protect my wallet. And you guys get target practice... so what's the problem?
The economy in this game is limited b the fact that you can only purchase more gear to take into battle. Aurum items are now single use (except boosters), so you could spend real world money getting spawn camped. I realize Aurum is cheap, but I don't see any value.
The game would benefit from purchaseable customization, or decent BPOs if they expect to sell Aurum. |

Nothing should be 100% free if you want a economy to work
One problem are al the players that have acces to bpo and different "free" gear they payed real money for ( like the dren ) The new players will never get on equal terms regarding isk grinding just 4 that resone if starter fitts are removed
Take me
My workhorse fitts are Dren scout, Dren logistic, Dren heavy
Non cost more then 5k isk
Also have a Dren assult that is 100% free al bpo that I can bring out
On top of that I have a 100% free LAW ( with bpo stuff fitted )
If new players are to be denied free starter fittings al the vets ( can't belive I caling my self a vet =ƒÿÅ) will have a huge advantage just because they have access to bpo gear that are no longer up for sale.
However I liked the sugestion that if you get below a set amount of isk the starter fits are closed for you. But al the free bpo needs to be adressed as well
I would love to get some input from CCP about this, how do they look at it and what problems do they c in this.

Regards Can't have starter or bpo closed at a certain amount of isk, why? Because you just put all your isk on a alt and farm. People gotta chill out about bpos an starters, they gave us a way to never be broke, so stock pile money, run good gear then run crap an train your skills, then run good gear. I for example hate med frames an after uprising they took the arbiter scout sniper starter an replaced everything with med suits, so dragonfly is my isk farm suit. I think you're just mad everyone gets BPOs free with MLT fits, and it bruises your fragile ego because you used IRL cash to get more and you want to feel special so you want all free fits gone without touching IRL money bought BPOs
I think we need to separate 'events', and 'pubs' in the case of me using officer weapons. Do you remember december to remember within our alliance? Thats when I used proto and officer weapons for the reward. Otherwise, yes, I do use BPO Logi suits, admittedly, in public matches. To talk about using BPOs bought with aurum, the reason why CCP got rid of them is because people tended to solely use them. They said they planned for BPO's to supplement and not replace.
Just thought I would clear that up, but alas, you may be right in the case of sometimes being a **** logi, reviving with standard needles. |

If you don't care about k/d then militia to basic give you the best bang for your isk. You don't need advance gear. You aren't really any better off. |

Actually, it's not. The rookie ships are provided any time you dock in a station without a ship. I could have billions of isk worth of ships in a station in the same system and if I docked in just a capsule at a station that I didn't have a ship at, it would give me a new rookie ship.
True the rookie ships are pretty much useless for anything other than basic pve missions and small amounts of mining, but that doesn't negate the point that you can get a rookie ship any time you want.

Blueprints hurting the economy is like the Trickle Down Economics thing it doesn't make sense...
Militia Items shouldn't Register a Players Active Skills... And we should make a militia item only game mode for a static new player training grounds. That way when people get to normal matches they will want to invest into other dropsuits and items to apply their skills and be more competitive... thus making normal game modes more enjoyable for everyone.
And still leaving a game mode for retreat of rough matches of older players without having any significant advantage over the new learning players, other then knowledge of DUST and individual skill. and receiving a somewhat reduced payout.
The bulk of the ISK comes from PC. And the entire System is broken and has been since uprising launch. CCP has been working on PC 2.0 since Uprising 1.4 so it should be a complete overhaul... That's a huge reason why Proto-stomping is even a thing and doo-able ISK wise. Unless your CEOPyrex and get given all the ISK from people quitting the game from the FOTM/OP Cycle he coincidentally promotes on his videos. |

noob ships are given when you create a new account or buy one. the velator a free ship is given to the player when the ship is destroyed with or without insurance. and it is a disposable ship, worth nothing, cannot be reprocessed and is magnitudes less effective then a basic frigate.
easy way to make the issue a non issue is make the capabilities of the militia gear well militia. reduce the hp on the suits, reduce the damage from the weapons. yes this would make it harder for people while using the gear but its not there so people can get a nice fat wallet. the purpose of the militia gear is to get people into matches when they don't have the skills/isk to use better gear and that's it |

Sorry, but no.
1 million ISK is chump change in this game. Most players wouldn't be able to break out of that ceiling however if they couldn't grind for longer. Running cheap gear saves money, but you get your a** kicked a lot more often. You need SP and as well a a healthy wallet to stay competitive in this game.
Starter fits are there for a reason. So were BPOs.
The REAL reason BPOs were removed was because CCP wasn't making prolonged revenue with them.
BPOs didn't hurt the "economy" at all. They weren't better than basic level. And the EvE economy isn't a real economy model, it has infinite currency.

You aren't gonna be awsome in a mlt, ever, but you might do about average.
While my skinweaves are technically not Militia, I constantly end upper top 7 using only the skinweaves. Using a basic Assault RIfle, I still kill guys in proto suits. Using a Remote Explosive, I can still kill a Proto Heavy. Granted in a straight up fire fight, the proto AR will kill me before I can kill him... but when I have cover and am the first one to take a shot, that extra 6 points of damage doesn't help at all.
Because of the min. benefit of proto gear and it's cost, the most used items in the game will always tend to be the lower level gear. If I actually played with a squad, I'd probably end up with 2k + points using basic gear. So, I think personally I do awesome performance, unless of course you focus only on my K/D ratio.
In order to get proto suits used, you have to lower their cost, OR increase their affectiveness dramatically (thereby distrubting balance). So the only real option would be to lower the cost of Proto gear. Lower cost, more people will start using them instead of militia gear. |
