Why are people able to snipe from on-top of the MCC. They get a cheap dropship - fly up land and recall.

So you want the game to be a boring single dimesional snooze fest right? I like the fact that people can fly dropships upto random places and snipe, keeps you on your toes.. You can't drop hives up there(I know how to ), so they are limited to one clip before making the journey to ground then flying back up, and remember there are rail tanks everywhere these days.

I would say - why not just snipe them off of that MCC but many many times I have tried to counter snipe - I either get 0 hit markers even though I am most definitely shooting the enemy, or I get that blue flash a 0 damage.
The other day I put 2 sets of 3 rounds (6 total rounds at over 220 dmg each shot with an advanced tactical sniper) into a Thale's sniper on the other team and it registered not 1 single bit of damage. I moved closer and still I was unable to damage them.
Is it elevation? Is it range? I have no idea as when I get this bug / issue I always try and move vantage point to see if it helps but usually it makes no difference. Am I missing something? |

Rendering at that distance draws the "rough" outline instead of the real outline, causing you to see your target when you should not (See: Tower Edges) and causing that "Blue Flash."
You need to be at a much better angle close to where they can roughly shoot or past that, and aim for their head as chances are the body is juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust behind cover causing blue flashes.

I have both of these problems from time to time but usually the former.
CCP need to fix this, but I wont rage and shout. There is a lot CCP just leave or dont get around to in this game. |

There is little skill needed to do this and you will kill proto suits with 10x the skill.
CCP equalizes when cheap isk things are able to smash expensive fits. Landing on the MCC should cause damage - It is taking fire but you can sit on it and snipe? |

Its ridiculous :( Or we can have hatches to the top accessible through the Jump Deck and skip the DS part altogether. The MCC pilot could just target that area for their missile strike. Most Eve Capsuleers would do it without a second though, then ask if they are getting a bounty payment.

Because it is under fire with huge missles - the splash damage should be crazy.

Because 20k damage missiles are being shot at it, but you can just sit on it and snipe? Legitimately the MCC should shake from the impacts, as well as slowly degrade in altitude and structural integrity due to damage and gradual system failure. And the enemiesmcc shots shouldn't land in the same place.

Ya, its a cheap way to play. You lose very little no suits and get kills like crazy. It does not promote positive gameplay.
I hope this thread points them out to other snipers to help limit it. I also hope more people do it to really show the negative effect and see if CCP will stay hands off with this crap - they didn't with vehicles (I don't use vehicles so this is not a rage on nerfs for them jus ta point that CCP is more involved in controlling Dust game play unlike EVE. |

One does not simply recall a dropship on the MCC. Mainly because any dropship that comes into contact with the MCC immediately explodes and/or falls off before anything can be done.

This was quite a popular tactic about 6 months ago, I did notice someone trying this again in a match the other day.
So I will counter it as I did 6 months ago - Try and run as full a squad as possible and earn as many war points as possible, then drop an orbital on top of them - They hear the orbital coming, but usually don't think its for them, so they usually stay where they are and get wiped out including any uplinks they may have up there. Also a good idea once you've done that to have a couple of forge gunners ready should they try it again. |

You can get up there... you can recall your DS... you can snipe from there... you can be shot up there..
you cannot drop uplinks... you cannot drop nanos... unless there is a glitch I am unaware of
Also... if you do this... the same if you bring a thale into a pub match... I will get out my DS with scanner hardeners and booster on it.... I will hunt you down.. and kill you... no matter how many DS I lose... or how many suits I lose... you cannot run far enough into the redline to escape.
don't believe me.... try me next time you are in a game with me on the other side.

It should destroy your DS trying to land on the MCC. Or increase your chance to take splash damage.
There is no skill involved. I like to think good snipers don't have to snipe from redline. They are much more tactful. Maybe I am wrong.

Sniping on the MCC doesn't make you a bad sniper, if done right you claim an excellent vantage point in which you can watch the enemy, call on incomming movements from infantry, tanks. you can get kills in and support your teams, and in actuallity it's easy to counter. I like the idea of MCC sniping.

ha ha ya, one sniper on his MCC and the other on his. They can't reach each other to counter but take easy kills on infantry that can't counter them. This leaves the "good" snipers (rare) to cross the map far enough to get in range of the MCC sniper without being spotted and taking them out.
What do you think requires more skill?

In order for me to think sniping from the top of the MCC is cool would mean you'd also have to remove the redline. it's not that it makes it a one dimensional game, it's just that it's another glitch/exploit people need or they'd suck. This game hinges on too many expoits vs actual gameplay.

I'm fine with MCC snipers. what Im not fine with is the invisible hit box on the MCC making it difficult to tell when the sniper is behind "cover".
if the root of the problem is caused by drop ships. shouldn't at least one solution involve them as well? 15 seconds is plenty of time for an assault DS to run in and kill someone.
