Shouldn't scanners, and maybe rep tools, have some sort of charge limit or battery life limiting how much effectiveness and therefore how much WP they can bring in? As it stands now they are the only equipment that don't have limited usage allowing for an almost constant stream of points if used intelligently. |

I say no. There are sometimes when repping an ally to full health from near death only yields one bonus. That AND basic rep tools STILL reward more because all the bonuses are the same and take longer to repair(milking an injured ally for all their worth). Your suggestion would only punish dedicated medics like myself. Scanners do it's their scan length....but i do wish there were an effective way to counter scan spam...

Its better to just figure out how to make the scanners only work when holding it at one angle while in use... Instead of people using a 45 Degree angle scan tool to scan 360 degrees.
Once the scan radius of the active scanners actually make sense with their stats they will come more into balance.. But taking a 20 degree scanner or w/e and scanning 360 degree's will always be a problem until it's fixed. |

My logo has all equipment prototype as well, and in my games unless the situation calls for it, I always have a rep and a scanner, alternating between the rest when need be. Everything in this game has depletion minus reps, injectors, scanners and knives, right? Meaning that I am never in risk of not having a constant pool to draw from if I'm smart. I feel like that gives a significant advantage. I don't mind my outrageous scores in the least but in terms of balance, perma scanning and endlessly reviving and repairing with impunity seems a bit off? And yes bethyy ballet scans are a bit silly as well. Scanners don't even have a height ceiling, I can aim down and scan everything from the basement to the attic.... |

How do you figure a scanner or rep tool should even be able to operate indefinitely? Or an injector? It has to be powered by something right? |

repairers and scanners probably have batteries in them, and this is New Eden, so they probably last near forever. Also, the injectors have charges, but we carry so many on us, they might as well be infinite.

No, the Active Scanner takes up a lot of PG for a reason.

Logically you have a point there. Although I would rather not run out of scans it would make sense to put a limiter on them. Speccing into scanners could increase the battery life of the scanner AND there can be a separate skill all together (Charge Operations?) that increases battery life (and charge count) of all relative equipment. You wanna rep a lot? Spec into rep tools and charge ops and you should be dead b4 you run out. This would also keep non-logis away from medical items as the items wouldn't work very well AND wouldn't last very long. Hmmm. This would also make it more difficult for players to farm reps with low quality reppers.

Like weapons, equipment draw from the Power Grid of the suit using them. Deployable equipment don't have constant power through the suit hence limited uses. That is why Repair Tools, Scan Tools, and Nanite Injectors can be used indefinitely (because they have access to the same power grid as your modules).
The most OP weapon on the Dust Battle Field:
One good logi, one rep tool, and a heavy.
