so i have it speced to level 4 just for the bonus i have yet to use the module it self. i do see the difference in just me specing into. is it worth it going into proto? Im an assualt and dont want to use an active scanner as a crutch to combat enemy active scanners. so can anyone give me some feedback and tell me should i go proto into range amplifier and slap a complex module on my ck0? also i have dampener to 5 and scan precision to 4 also.

Honestly it's more of a scout exclusive module, it will have minimal effect on an Assault not just because they have lower scan radius to start out with but also because they don't have the best passive scanning either, so then you'd have to add a precision enchancer and it just starts to take up too many valuable slots that you could of used to have higher DPS, tank, or regen which are far more valuable to an Assault.

Get on my level. My alt has proto Gallente scout and I slap on two complex range amplifiers anyways and get 70 meter scan radius (opposed to just 24 with proto Gallente scout on it's own, or 36 with proto Gallente scout and level 5 range amplification but no modules). Maybe a bit excessive, but I definitely notice the difference. I never even come remotely close to engaging an enemy head on

Complex modules are very much worth it.
Right now your passive radius is 14 meters which is 46 short of impressive If you get level 5 and slap on a complex mod 21.75 meters so nearly twenty two That's pretty decent for a medium frame and you'll probably be superior in CQC peekaboo scenarios.

It would be good for hunting anything not a scout in a city.
10m radius is ~ 314m squared 15 is going to be ~ 700m squared If you then increase that be a mere 25% you will be seeing ~ a hectare (1000m squared)

The passive skill itself is worth the investment. There are much better modules to consider using (if you're not into the max HP/DPS builds) like Profile Dampeners or Armor Reppers.

Which is why it works so loving with the scout gk.0. Four low slots 1 profile dampener and it avoids proto scanners (save the focus) 1 armor rep and you're good given you low armor value 2 extra slots to go crazy with range amplifiers. Try it out sometime if you have the skills for it.

i know there are beter modules like plates and whatever may u have but im looking for that little edge i can get from something that may seem insignificant but is actually pretty useful. i know those skills are mostly for scouts but im looking to multiskilled. sure i can tank and have 900 hp but what good is that if i cant see a swarm of scrubs about to **** me.

With those skills I would get at least level 1 Gallente Scout and just chuck armour on it and walk around with >25m passive scan radius, fast move and being hard for them to even scan. Chuck on Dampeners and you can ruin their day.
Or you can run a CQC weapon such as a shotgun and surprise the crap out of medium suits.
Actually just any basic light suit will give you a radius of 24m with level 5 range amplification.
I started with a MLT Shotgun and mini light suit, now I'm running a mini scout and basic shotgun on my main. Got 5 kills before reloading. I swap from logi to scout as I see the need.

21.75 meters with comp skills and one comp mod on a med suit, scanning at (depending on logi or assault) either 39.6/A or 36/L dB, with comp skills and one comp presision enhancer. With just Lv 5 dampening skills on a med frame you can get your profile down to 45 dB. With just Lv 5 presision skills on an assault you cannot beat the profile of other med frames (including other assaults - comes out to 49 dB - so a presision enhancer would be necessary. With the logi however it is possible to beat the profile of any med frame where only skill vs skill is involved (comes to 36 presision vs 36 profile both at Lv 5), however it is not possible where mod vs mod is concerned, as the dampeners give a 25% reduction and the presision enhancers only give a 20% reduction.
Now here the deal:
22m scan radius is pretty abysmal, but it will help to stop med frames from poping up unexpectedly from around around corners it may also be helpful while hacking. As a counter to the active scanner though, no.
If you want a passive counter to the scanner Gal scout is the way to go. Currently, I am scanning passivly at 73m with a presision of 40.5 dB with out a presision mod, or 32 dB with a comp mod, though I very rarely find occasion/need to use the fit with the presision mod.
Hope that helped you out some.

Compared to the Gallente bonus, yeah, 22m scan radius is pretty crap. However, I will say this.
My Minja has a 21m passive scan without modules. This is enough for me. Why? I never really use passive scans unless I am expecting a target to come around a corner. It actually is VERY useful for my scout, as I can knife people right as they walk around a corner, or even stalk people through walls (and then knife them as they turn the corner )
In short, while that 70m omniscience is AMAZING in a Gal Scout, 21m scan radius is nothing to shake a fist at. It is useful, but only if you are packing CQC weapons.
And if I want a little bit more, one enhanced amp is all I need

I'd add, "and only if you are in a very small, tightly enclosed area such as the twisty-passage cities, or certain objective buildings.
Anything more "outside", and you definitely need 30m+ range, with 40m+ being preferable |

The problem you will most definitely face is the inability to passively scan for scout suits. Even a proto Gallente scout can't passively see another scout. Also, 20m passive scan is impressive and somewhat useful for an assault, but since you'll be wearing it on an assault, avoiding direct engagements will be must difficult since you have to give up profile dampeners for range amps. It's not worth it unless you're seriously considering training up the Gallente scout suit.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?
