I know some of you are say hell yah while others are saying hell no. Let me tell you why I think this is a good idea.
In EVE your pilot only gains SP passively and this can only be increased by implants, while in Dust it can be gained actively and passively. The easiest way to make the migrations the EVE pilot is to simply not allow him to use the passive points twords his Dust skills. Only his active skills would be put to use on Dust.
This would bring a benefit to both Dust and EVE communities, by allowing the EVE players to bring the pilots they have spent years on into the game. Also will all Dust player to build a further community with EVE players and corporations.
I have been a EVE pilot for years and if any other pilots are like me the station isn't good enough i want to bring my pilot to a planet instead of walking around in a station or piloting a ship all day long.

The lore wouldnt allow this,
Mercs use sleeper tech implants to transport data between clones on death and are pumped full of steriods and enhancements for ground war, Capsuleers are extremely weak, fragile husks that require a jove pod to kill the pilot during a hull breach to allow clone transfer
if a capsuleer dies outside of a pod (with the exception of the broker), he will be unable to transfer to a clone and will just be dead

Capsuleers have ways of avoiding permanent death outside their capsule. Soft-cloning is accessible to them and any other very wealthy individual.
Capsuleers are also as strong or as weak as they want to be. Nothing stopping a capsuleer from getting out of his pod and going to the gym. Not to mention the cybernetics he could afford.
Playing since 1st batch of closed beta keys.

I doubt a capsuleer would go outside of his pod if every time he did so it would mean the possibility of dying. I'm sure they would have access to the same sleeper tech as us Merclings, capsuleers are incredibly wealthy and influential after all. Hilmar Veigar, CCP CEO has said there's no reason why it couldn't happen in future, but don't expect anything for a long time.

This kind of thing would be best with a dose of "let me play my dust character on my Eve Client" too. Just a thought, the computer would be a better platform to start this with as the functionality is more easily ported to the computer.

As someone else mentioned, there is technology offered to capsuleers to "soft clone" themselves. What this means is that when you die outside of the pod, you will be revived in a fresh new clone, but only with the data that was last saved when you last updated it. Smart capsuleers would remember to regularly update their clones just in case.
So if you had breakfast, updated your clone, had brunch thereafter and then ended up getting shot on the head by someone who has beef with you, you will only remember what you had for breakfast while not even remembering going for brunch.
Sleeper technology has the potential to be implemented for Capsuleer use but I think that's only on the drawing board at best. Research is still ongoing.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

Actually, with skills in Infomorph Psychology, a capsuleer like myself can shift his consciousness between clones. When he's in a new clone he gets all the benefits and implants that specific clone has. Therefore it would be easy for a capsuleer to buy the right to an Infantry clone and shift her consciousness into it when needed. In fact it would seem to be an extremely useful thing to make sure you have. |
