does it not make sense that a suit designed for carrying something ridiculously heavy be capable of carrying something not so heavy?

Why not? Hell I can run around in my Minmatar Assault Dropsuit with two sidearms (SMGs). So why shouldn't a Heavy Dropsuit be able to use light weapons?

wouldn't it make sense that you can easily pick up 20 lbs?

It makes sense that they can pick up a light weapon but they shouldn't be as capable as they are with them instead of their intended weapons...

Basically, a weapon slot is a "less than or equal to".
Sidearm can only carry sidearm.
Light can carry light or sidearm.
Heavy can carry heavy, light or sidearm. |

i tried that on a sentinel in FW, it didnt work out too well
even with ADV NKs and a complex damage mod
i even used 2x militia kin kats and a cardiac reg

MLT Heavy with a light weapon is the first step on the road to commando.
It's a big investment when you realize what it takes to unlock heavy weapons.
Turrent - the sound a tankers pants makes when he finds out the four swarm militia doing squats around him aren't AFK.
