game modes, what would you like to see to bring more intelligent play to dust.
ok im compiling ideas and such to think of ways to make dust more intelligent of a game i have made posts about how to do so in the past (mtac game mode https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1720076#post1720076 dynamic victory / failure conditions https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1409399#post1409399 ) but i intend to make one more in-depth looking at some of the core design issues with the game and how they can be addressed. alot of people are saying terraside is the answer but its an answer to a problem rooted in the game it self, so far in dust the "selling point" is winning or losing a game has a effect of stats of a system/planet influence from a faction. also pc for corps owning and running there own land and such.
i believe that the issues suffered with suits and all this min/maxing can be solved by providing a propose to the game modes them selves. At the moment skirmish is the main mode used for all the binary changes made to standings ect ect but i think there needs to be more depth to it, your in a facility that is owned by some one, why not have a separate group in a team dedicated to retrieving information and the assault of the base is a cover for said extraction. now i know its gonna sound silly, but dust need more non direct combat "activity's" shooting peoples all well and good but alot of the issues with the game in its current state stem from the fact and its tug or war where the way to win is bash your head against an enemies and see who walks away with less brain damage.
so please leave your ideas down below of how to bring more intelligent gameplay to dust.
if feel you are not qualified to comment on intelligent game play, please go back to shooting people, even if i did come up with some god answer that was implemented your shooting people isnt going away any time soon so go enjoy it :3 |

If the Eve universe had an oppressive eldritch enemy it would go a long way into making it feel like our battles have purpose. We would be fighting to save the universe. As it stands now, we are either fighting for a) profits or b) political ideologies.
the problem with A is we don't have much of a reason to spend our isk. We accumulate it, and we can use it, but up to a certain point it no longer matters because there's no purpose for it (unless you're trying to buy a planet or whatever).
The problem with B is CCP has done a poor job of making us feel like we're part of the Eve universe. Eve has tons of interesting lore, but as far as we know it's Gallente good, Caldari greedy, Minmatar poor, and Amarr greedy, slave owning, jerks. And that's if we bother reading about the races. Otherwise it's just "hey, this suit looks awesome, I'm going to use it."
