Because that makes sense.
A dropship is a tool to insert infantry into strategic locations, not a place for idiots to stay safe and take up a spot for the rest of the match.
If you don't want to get ejected into a hotzone, don't get into a dropship, or bail out early.
If you don't want to get ejected into the outside of the playable map resulting in a death by a pilot who is a jackass, don't get in a dropship or bail out early.
Don't like it? Too bad, it's not your ship, you didn't pay for it, you don't pilot it, you don't control it.
Also this would just be awesome for gameplay, imagine 6 people hitting the ground next to you with inertial dampeners simultaneously...brick sh*tting engaged.

Oh I'm sure it's been mentioned and I claim no credit if it gets implemented lol, it's just something I think needs to be in the game.
The only side effect is that once again the only safe place for blueberries is the red line and the MCC, and I don't think there's enough pilots out there to misuse this feature and troll people by doing something like not taking off when full or dropping them further away from the combat zone or just in the red line. There will be a few but then it just goes back to do you or do you not trust the dropship pilot, before it was for the fact that they might suck at piloting, now it's just is he gonna be an ass.

Oh dropships would be the worst people to try and troll. Did you know that pretty much anything makes a dropship sway in the air. Friendly fire may be off but a railgun, forge gun, flaylock pistol, mass driver, and plasma cannon at an inoppurtune moment will spell death for a troll. Plasma cannon to the nose of the craft near a building would easily do it. Forge deffinetly would, and a rail would do the same. Goodbye to the bad troll thats really just griefing Well all it takes is good piloting to avoid going down from a physics bump but yeah if it happens often enough you can do something to mess with him right back, my favorite option being to just ram him with your own dropship lol

The reason i want this is so that when i use my dropship for a quick transport, i can force stubborn blues out of it when i want to recall the vehicle.
A 5 second lockout after forced ejection would be nice too, so they dont get back in while i'm recalling it.
I'd also love to see dropships used more often as troop carriers - in almost every match i play in i'd be happy to transport blueberries to hot objectives, but few people ever get the hint.
What we REALLY need is a horn or something with 2 honking patterns; one beckoning people in, and one indicating that we've reached our destination.
.02 isk I currently use it like that and obviously for aerial fire support, problem is I can't communicate with blueberries to tell them to drop or to fire on something, and yeah I definitely get that concern. I was flying around in an assault dropship, I picked up a blueberry who was just out in an open field getting shot at, nearly dead, I thought to take him back to base or to a friendly objective, the guy never left and I was taking fire the rest of the match, eventually he cost me 400k because I couldn't recall the damn thing when the match got too hot.

What you use your dropship for isn't necessarely what everybody else uses it for. That thing has turrets for a reason. If you don't want blueberries staying in your dropship, then don't let them in? If you want them to bail out, then play with squads? Pushing them out would probably just mean 6 people hitting the ground and dying. I use it for aerial gun support too, and I can't really help that when I have a mobile CRU on it for my squad.
It's not just a mobile gun platform dude

Munin-Frey wrote:I like this. I'm sick of this game becoming less and less about winning a match and more and more about KDR or WP or ISK. The point is to win matches and having dropships be more useful to that end is a good idea in my opinion.
I don't run a microphone or with the sound on for that matter and I always run solo. I would actually like it if the pilot would give me some kind of a clue what his plan is. After all, Derpship pilots fly around above everything they generally have a good idea about what is going on.
As a passenger here's my 2 ISK: 1) pilots should be able to mark targets so their gunners will get a big red box around the thing we are supposed to be shooting at. Also, please try to keep us oriented towards the target. I really wish the side gunners could both be on one side like that AC-47 from Vietnam era "Puff the Magic Dragon" 2) Pilots should be able to have an eject option for many things with corresponding visual cues. Some examples are: eject because I'm recalling this, you dumbass you just shot an AI turret so now you have to go, and you have reached your destination thanks for flying DustAIR.
None of this should work if you are behind the redline for ground troops. If it were easy for the pilot to point and mark targets I would be using assault dropships way or often lol, but any pilot worth flying with can keep you pointed at your target for the most part.
Maybe have 2 separate buttons, 1 to deploy all of the passengers and 1 to deploy passengers + gunners.
And yeah i support that function disabling once u cross the redline but you can still fling people into it from inside the map, still it should help.
