So I walk into the complex in my 120 shield 666 armour Assualt gk.0 and see this militia caldari suit. I open up with my prof. 3 duvolle with 2 enhanced and 1 basic damage modifiers ( about 23% more damage ) and die. To an advanced rail rifle. at close range in under 5 seconds. We were both blind firing. I had 400 more hp. What is this rr is so good.

I would have said he is better than you.
Mathematically you will have had higher DPS and higher EHP so its got nothing to do with the fact he has a rail rifle, he just shot you more.

My Scout suit g.ko can get I think 629 armor with just enhanced plates so I think something about the 3 damage mods on it are why you died.
Also get sharpshooter for assault rifle if you blindfire you're obviously going to lose to the tight spread of the rail rifle.

So I heard that aiming is pretty important in this game unless you're using proto mass drivers. Maybe you were under the impression that a proto suit did your aiming for you.

You probably Spray and Prayed while he was aiming.
I used to run BPO only about a month ago and owned Proto suits with the Toxin AR and STD RR.

I have learned the hard way that my awesome proto gear doesn't matter.
I now spec into numbers and abilities--i.e. a different weapon or increased PG/CPU.
May your hard fought fight be a lesson learned. Go pwn with whatever gear you like the best.

The RR should not be effective in CQ GÇö AT ALL. It is. That's BS. Same problem with the rail turret atm. This makes it where there is really no reason to ise anything else as well as destroys the whole point of Caldari.
This looks like CCP is finally dumping the lore because they got painted into a corner with it. Works for EVE, doesn't work for DUST.

SMG is CQ.
Shotgun is CQ.
and the AR beats both SMG and SG in BOTH , CQ and med ranges.
So our argument is invalid.

The AR has not a ''ROLE'' that can be REPLACED by the RR.They are both the same, they are not Niche weapons...
They are both the ''Good all around'' weapon of their respective race.
Only difference is one has better RoF and bigger Clip size and the other has higher damage and range

Also this does type of play does not support the gallente play style of lose rang high survivability suits.
Regardless of how the weapon is being used if you're not landing shots on target and the other guy is you're going to lose the fight. I have seen laser rifles win fights at 30m because the other player aimed like a drunk after a 3 day bender.
You are complaining less about the weapon and more about someone having better aim than you - which is especially apparent by the fact that you needed to land maybe 5-7 shots to drop your target while the rail rifle user needed to land roughly half his magazine in order to drop you. That isn't the weapons fault - it's yours for being bad. |

Rail Rifle does 10% more damage to armor and he was probably actually connecting with his shots. DPS is only good if its damage applied otherwise "potentially" you had the advantage but only potentially.
He was Superior. Good players don't need proto to win.
