CCP are giving us half a million to millions of skillpoints in the coming week: "Accelerated SP Week Earn extra Skill Points during the week of January 22 to 29. During the week, you will receive 5 times the normal SP from War Points earned during a match. The weekly Skill Point cap will be boosted to 3 times the normal amount during the week as well." This matches with the coming build with new suits/suit changes so people will want SP (respecs) but this event seems to be the alternative thus more reason not to expect a respec, I'm surprised no one noticed this in relation to 1.8 already.

Well, given what was given to vehicles and the result of that, I'm going to be one who will help "fan the flames" here in the forums if there's not at least a dropsuit tree respec. I didn't invest millions of sp into hives and uplinks and damage mods to have them become unusable/unsuitable.

I mean did anyone actually think CCP would give a respec, they will just find ways around it.
Edit: For example just introducing one new suit at a time. |

The amount of SP you have banked is irrelevant when CCP changes the way skill trees are laid out or how certain dropsuits/weapons fundamentally work.

They will not respec weapons they would of done that in 1.7 when they added the CR and RR which introduced around 7 to 8 million new SP to the skill tree |

For dropsuits, the actual skill is being changed..,so they are most likely going to respec that

Introducing a new weapon is not the same as changing the existing content. If changed the layout of the skill tree, multipliers for skills, what bonuses each skill provides (not how much of a bonus, but the bonus itself), and so on.

I don't really expect a weapon respec. Would be nice to get one but I don't see one. However, when it comes to dropsuit command and even dropsuit upgrades (particularly when CCP is going to completely alter pg/cpu base suit values, equipment slots, and module slots and maybe even modules themselves, that's a whole different story. What I put SP into was already established and that itself is being changed overall, from the mods maybe themselves to the skills themselves. When RR and CR were put in, it was an addition. Very little or nothing changed about current weapons and the skills related to them certainly didn't.

And now that I think about it, how is CCP even going to get around this one? If what has been going around is indeed true and they reduce the amount of SP required or change skill requirements for getting into racial role suits, what is going to happen to the extra SP we all have invested? For example, for Gallilogi, have to have level 3 Gallente Medium Suits and then another level 5 for Gallilogi proto. What's going to happen to that level 3 sp requirement, or if they drop the SP multiplier for logi suits? Just going to disappear and oh well, SOL for you?

yeah i understand the weapon skill tree not chaining much but introducing around 7 to 8 million more SP is a big change for that skill tree i think, but oh well can't do anything about it now |

I think CCP has set this standard:
Total changes to entire skill tree = total respec. Errors in the skill tree resulting in players making the wrong decision (Vehicle Engineering...) = total respec. Massive changes ala Vehicles in 1.7 = partial respec. Refund the skill points spent in that area. Add new stuff (flaylock, ScR, CR, RR) = no respec. It is an add, not a change. Balance changes (Caldari Logistics) = no respec. Fairly minor in the end, the suit still does what it did before just not with 1,000 HP.
With how much changes are happening and how many things are being added, I feel a refund is in order simply because so many things do not exist (Minmatar Speed Hacker) and things that should have been in the game since day 1 (C, G, and M Heavy) are now being added.
Be well. -Joseph |

The last 2 respecs came after SP events, after everyone said "Never." and "No.", after less significant (though still significant in their own) changes were made to the skill tree. Those 2.5 million SP sinks called Proto dropsuits represent months of unboosted grinding and greatly dictate who fights for what faction. You can't have a level playing field in FW, if a lot of players were "forced" into another race to play a particular role. Those specialty dropsuits are bolstered by equipment, handpicked by each player to best utilize their fitting(s). If the bonuses which affect the equipment choices and weaponry are changed then a player could potentially have wasted 6 months or more of their game time (not mentioning moneys spent on SP Boosters) on one type of build, only to have it all made null because the Devs and Producers hadn't committed to their path.

That's my sentiment exactly, the equipment and suit itself I once used in order to help propel my team on the frontline would no longer function in the way originally intended.

With the introduction of the new ally system CCP completely changed the function of a skill. Eve Online corps used to be limited in their multi-racial composition, based on the race of the CEO(founder?) and his Ethnic Relastions skill. Then they removed any race limit to corporations and Ethnic Relations and introduced Diplomatic Relations, a discount on hiring allies in war. Completely unrelated to each other. No refund of SP. They moved the SP from Ethnics to Diplomatic. Folks weren't happy.
But no refund/remap of SP was done. CCP never budged and only marginally explained themselves, with an explanation which was in contradiction to the refund of Learning skills. {link}
I'm more interested in respect than a respec.

If you're upset that you have to share the field with more HAV pilots that haven't accumulated as many SP in HAVs as you have then just say so. Not really sure what this has to do with your respec though. According to your logic you should have skipped putting any SP into HAVs this time around, which should make you thankful for the changes and give you more viability as infantry when needed. |

That's what I thought, that technically he has the advantage currently in SP savings, that militia tanks can currently compete and take out standard tanks and make a big presence on battlefields. I can understand his frustration over being taken out by those tanks however and wanting more SP requirements for better vehicle performance and power.

Vehicles got the full respec, it would make no sense to not give infantry a full respec, are they supposed to stop doing sp events just because we are getting a respec ?
Besides, if they leave us hanging with no respec, theres gonna be little infantry left to fill any matches with.

In the past, when they reduced the SP cost of a particular skill, all of those who were spec'ed into that skill got a refund of the difference. This has happened several times. That aside, I don't care about the Weapons Tree, but they are going to lose a lot of players if they don't respec the Dropsuit Command Tree and also possibly the Dropsuit Upgrade Tree. (I really think they should.) I understand their unwillingness to offer respecs on a regular basis, I think it really strengthens the game. Ideally, all of this content would have been here by the end of beta, they could have offered a single one time respec then and never again, but that's not the case. They want you to live with your choices which I think is great, but I can't very well live with the choice to be a naturally self repairing logi who can hack substantially faster than anyone else in the game if that is involuntarily taken away from me.
