Man, I've been asked this question a lot lately so I figured I might as well just make a post here for you guys.
First of all, here's something I wrote earlier about the subject (keep in mind, I wrote this BEFORE the new suit bonuses were revealed):
I-Shayz-I wrote:I'd love to be a part of the CPM just because I'm not biased towards one thing or another. I'm also not aligned to any certain corp or group, leaving me very neutral. Instead, I usually rely on facts to form any opinions I might have about the game or issues.
If you've seen my videos, I want to help the community, not hurt it. I fully support Dust and will do so for many years to come. I am very active in-game and on the forums, always looking for chances to help other players, or to explain things that have been brought up by the DEVs. _______________________________________
The things I'd like to push towards:
-Better NPE (new player experience) Obviously with the new tutorials, CCP is already trying to make steps towards this. I would like to see a much wider range of options for players to choose from in the beginning (especially with all 4 racial rifles now) instead of just militia ARs, snipers, and swarm launchers. The starting fits need to showcase medium, light, and heavy frames, along with each type of equipment (seriously, I never knew about the repair tool until I had played the game for 3 months).
On top of that, having a new way to progress in skills would be the logical next step. Having "pre-fit" dropsuits that you can buy in the market for isk, along with a skill list that tells you how much sp you need in order to unlock each skill required for that fitting, and how much sp you need total for the fitting. I don't know how similar this is to the certificate system in EVE, but something like this would be very helpful.
-Proper bonuses for suits/roles to define them better. They've already stated that they were working on new logistics bonuses to better differentiate them from assault suits, but I feel there needs to be a complete rework just like they did with tanks. There are just some bonuses that don't make much sense currently, like the reduction in weapon feedback for sentinels, or the melee bonus for minmatar scouts.
The Amarr Assault bonuses are a great example of what I'd like to see more of. The assault bonus gives faster shield regeneration as a passive bonus to the suit, whereas the Amarr bonus reduces the heat buildup of laser weapons, a bonus that applies to something EQUIPPED to the suit. Minmatar Logistics on the other hand gets two passive bonuses to the suit...armor regeneration and a hacking bonus. While I do like the extra hacking speed, a bonus to the minmatar repair tool would be much better as a logistics bonus. OR we could have more options like "suit proficiency" that would further allow us to increase our suit's capabilities.
About a week ago I wrote a VERY long post about my reasons for wanting to be CPM, and well, my internet connection went wonky and the draft didn't save. At this point I did a rage quit, and in combination with some things Jenza said, decided I wasn't going to run.
However, now that I've had some time to think about it, I want to know what the community thinks. I'd feel much better about doing this if I knew I already had support behind me. But what would you be supporting exactly? I really don't want to make another super-long post explaining everything, but here's a brief overview of some additional thoughts I have aside from what I've already stated up above:
-The community, and its connection to CCP, is my number 1 focus I really want to make sure that the connection between the DEVs and the community stays solid. The problem is, the forums get so cluttered in GD that some of the best ideas are lost to the wind. I originally created a thread that held all of the important posts we have made, but stopped updating it because there wasn't enough support behind the idea. If I was CPM, I'd like to see a place made on the forums specifically dedicated to hold these threads in a way that won't ever be cluttered by trolling and spam posts.
Other additions I'd like to see would be to give us the ability to delete our own threads, create poll options, and maybe even give some of us "forum warriors" a private area to make some good think tank threads.
Getting new players introduced to the community earlier is also very important to me. The current NPE is already bad enough, but we need to at least have some sort of explanation about corporations or chat channels. The squad finder is a good start, but that's about as useful as lfs-ing in local.
-The way CCP wants to make their game is their decision, not mine. I don't have very strong opinions on whether certain items should be buffed or nerfed. I feel that in the end it is all up to CCP how they want to balance the game. Sure there are things that might need a slight change this way or that, but I'm not here to just be an idea person. I'd like as much as possible to collect the opinions on CCP's ideas from the community, and use that as my reasoning for why or why not something should change.
Looking at the facts, both sides of the discussion, that's what I'm all about.
-I want to find ways to improve our game experience, without just changing stats? My best example for this is matchmaking. It's an obvious issue, and the obvious solution would be to put pros with pros and noobs with noobs...but there's a problem. With our small playerbase, the matches with pros would almost always never be full or evenly sided.
Instead, what if we had smaller 8v8 maps for times when a 16v16 match can't be filled? In a skirmish it could just be a 5 point map converted to a 3 point map. With no outside objectives you could push the MCCs and ground spawns closer in. Joining one of these matches with a full squad means you only risk two of your players being blueberries.

Oh man I ran out of characters in the OP (looks like I ended up making it too long again).
So what do you think? Would you support me, or do I have the wrong idea about this whole CPM thing?
Hopefully I answered any questions you have, but if I didn't, please leave them down below and I'll try my best to make my views more clear.
I only want to be a part of the CPM if the community wants me there, so don't hesitate to be brutally honest with me about your thoughts.

I don't care about what you 'would do'. What have you done? What makes me think you'd be a good fit for the role? How can you make me think you'll stick it out?
This isn't a political position. Politicians have a certain amount of power. They get paid. CPM? No, and no. Being CPM is essentially outing yourself as a hardcore masochist.
Now. I apologise for being, perhaps, more brusque than I should have been. But offhand, Spero organised tournaments. Jenza did some community fundraising. IWS was renowned for being able to dig up anything you wanted.
How have you best serviced the community?

How have you best serviced the community? This is exactly why I decided to not even try to run for CPM.
I guess it's not enough to have a active forum player with common sense, a level head with lore knowledge and want this game to succeed that has a long experience in the gaming community (more than just generic fps or the hottest game).
True, I have made a public contract out to the community to sabotage Caldari FW but that was solely to spite the Caldari.
I am just as worried that his election will come out to be a popularity contest with CCP just as much as people are saying it will be a popularity contest with the Dust Community.
Just as the United State's Two Party system works, I'm afraid some quality members will be left behind in the dust because of "Popularity" |

I initially started the "list of most important threads", but not enough people really took up on the idea for me to keep putting effort into it. Other than that I'm just starting to make explanation videos and tutorials, though not enough to really put myself out there. I'm new to it, so it might take some time to figure out what I want to do with the channel, but eventually I'll have all sorts of informational videos about Dust.
I see what you're saying though. Very important feedback.

Honestly, Shayz, I've nothing against you but I feel that I see a lot of posts from you about feeling underappreciated: being a good player and not being recognised for it and similar and the tone of these messages has me wondering whether the focus with a CPM position is an image thing or whether it's a realistic "I have the drive to make this happen" because rage quitting or not being good at handling defeat or getting put off when you are insufficiently rewarded for your actions are not going to be the traits of a successful CPM. It's going to be hard and people are going to tell you that you suck. Most of the time, you will be contractually obliged not to show them why that is not true.
Do you see yourself thriving in that environment?
If not, I would absolutely welcome you to throw yourself further into aiding this community in a less committed position than CPM, so that you can do good things for this game but still be in control of your own schedule, and take down time when you need it.
Please refrain from utilizing such inflammatory sarcasm in the future. GÇö CCP Eterne

One of the biggest aspects of the CPM is providing feedback the first feedback for CCP. Do you have any examples of specific feedback you have given to CCP in the past? Something more than generic "This needs improving, this needs changing"? Something that details specifically how you would go about the situation?
That's what I'll be looking for when I vote for who I want in CPM (yes, I plan to vote for more than just myself ). Do you have the ability to provide clear, well thought out, detailed, unbiased feedback over the entire spectrum of Dust 514?

^ Probably the best example of my feedback actually making it into the game. My third solution was implemented by CCP after a lot of debate in that thread about how best to fix the repair tool after they had "broke" it in 1.4 (or was it 1.2?).
The original post before I edited it is shown below that, asking about a way to improve the repair tool to check if you are actually in combat in order to get rewards, instead of the cap they introduced way back in the beta. I'm not sure what they did to "fix" it, but they either increased the cap or implemented that idea back when they updated the repair tool repair rate.

Great feedback!
As for not handling losing well, it all comes down to fairness. Even when I was little I always had problems dealing with people that didn't play by the rules. It's because they take advantage of my willingness to stick to what's right and truthful.
I don't know anyone that likes it, or thinks it is okay to let someone win by cheating; however, I am all about facts. If it was my own fault I will accept it and move on.
I try to be a likable person, but popularity isn't my thing. Even so, I still want to be unique, to be somewhat immune to having people think one way or another towards me. I know I can't prevent anything, but confusing people into wondering what kind of person I am helps.
But then again this is the internet and I don't have to care what other people think about me on the internet if I don't want to. In-game is a different story, but even there I can mute people, or remove myself from the situation.
To be perfectly honest, I might rage in the game a bit more than I really should, but it's how I get rid of stress from everything else in my life. Instead of yelling at my girlfriend, co-workers, or customers, I yell at a TV screen...sometimes with the mic on XD In the end, no matter how much something annoys me, I always return back to a somewhat calm and normal state.

you'd be a good candidate, dunno if i would vote for ya, but i like your forum fu, you usually got good input and the way you adress most imbalance state of the game is leveled and unbiased, mith may have a point, but in the end who doesn't want is 2 sec of fame, and i don't think it would hinder your judgement if you would be elected, +1 for me

I think that not putting the most seemingly competent people on the CPM could be the right thing. People like yourself, Aeon, and Cat all have a value to the community that would only be diminished by the NDA. How much can you help when your hands are tied?

I re-read my post, and I have to apologise. I in no way meant for it to seem like a rant; I am seeing too many platforms based on what people want from CCP, which is not what the CPM seems to be about. Again, I'm sorry for raging at you.
