Currently long range weapons outclass short range weapons due to then having very long range and the same DPS as short range. Are you planning on doing anything about this?
To put it in simplest terms on why they are OP. Player 1 has a short stick that swings fast, Player 2 has a long stick that swings just as fast. By the time player 1 gets to player 2, player 2 has hit player 1 multiple times. When they are in front of each other not only is player 1 hurt but his damage cannot exceed player 2s damage and player 1 dies.
The balanced scenario: Player 1 has a short stick that swings fast, player 2 has a long stick that swings slow. If player 1 can close the distance gap player 2 might die due to being out damaged at short range, however if player 2 is at a distance player 1 will not get a chance to close the distance gap and player 2 will win. |

Dispersion only happens when hip firing. The long range rifles have better accuracy than short range so this is an advantage to them. Reloading time does not make enough of a difference to where a short range weapon can make up lost damage, except in the edge case of a CR vs a RR. Falloff range affects short range weapons not long range weapons. Charging time is laughably pointless. Again the long range weapons have the best accuracy... |

Basing it off on how MMOs balance short range weapons vs long range weapons. On the contrary when there is a long range fighter doing high damage if he gets caught of guard it is a 1 shot kill basically... we can't have that in Dust so the best option is balancing by DPS.
We can also balance using hip fire spreads and accuracy but A DPS reduction would be so much easier. |
