the best games ive had were when both teams were of similar skill, using similar gear. boths teams didnt have anyone not in a squad either.
i havent had one of these games in months now...
the whole match can be decided in the first 60 seconds 90% of the time, and usually leads to one side "giving up" and either not spawning into the match or simply hiding for the remainder of the match.
two games i enjoyed in the past were Call of Duty and the Battlefield series. why?
in COD you have tight maps that helps limit the amount of "traveling" a player needs to do to get back into the action. Dust maps are in a weird place because theyre too big for infantry and too small for vehicles now that vehicles are faster. but as in Battlefield, we need bigger maps for vehicles, but we also need to keep "travel time" to a minimum.
I suggest we have drop pods that can be purchased for isk and used to spawn into the match. they should be weak and should be easily destroyed by vehicles if theyre spotted and can only be used to deploy outside, but they would allow players to minimize the time spent out of the action by being forced to travel large distances do to either no uplinks or being redlined.
another thing we need is a way to actively manipulate the environment. We things like gates to keep out vehicles, and doors for keeping out infantry. it makes no sense that if a district fell under attack, everyone opens the gates and leaves open all the doors. we gates and doors that can be activated and deactivated, destroyed, or hacked.
its not fun when you have to run across the map everytime you die because the uplink you dropped was destroyed when ONE guy scanned the area and revealed all you teams uplinks. its not fun when you cant leave a building because there are 5 tanks outside.
idk ccp... i know that there are many solutions to the frustrations many player are having with dust right now, but alot of it is just basic stuff for a game like this. anyways im done ranting |

the Eye of Sauron sees all
dropships with scanners or even regular scanners reveal everything and ive even destroy uplink i scanned from under or "outside" the map. it just doesnt matter where you put them. if its on the map ill find it. |

surprisingly, alot of those great matches also paid the best too. i may have lost a ton of isk to get a particular win but i feel it was isk well spent for the thrill of a great fight.
one thing i think doesnt help dust is that we are all forced to earn our isk through pvp. you talk to some Eve pilots and most of them will tell you how broke they are. pvp was always an isk sink and in dust we've been given the isk sink without the isk generator.
since the new players dont have isk they have to run crappy gear to make a profit, but then that means somebodies team is getting stuck with poorly funded dudes without the isk to get better gear or to keep running it when they do have better gear. i think thats why people run to the redline and shipe, because theyre still want to turn a profit somehow.
in eve i run missions when i need isk. when i have enough isk i pvp. when the isk runs low again i go back to running missions. the cycle doesnt exist in dust yet and that probably hurts everyone in the long run.
alot of the time i feel like the team im fighting are all battle hardened space marines armed with the best gear, while my team is a bunch of jungle tribesmen armed with sticks and stones. |

i dont mind the tanks when things are fair. both teams having tanks struggling to take each other out while supporting their infantry is an awesome sight. and it usually means they dont have time to stomp on infantry... usually lol |

biggers maps will become a burden if we dont have a way to reasonably get into the action after dying. if you get redlined and your team lost all their uplinks for an area, suddenly youll find yourself having to march across the map on foot. you spend more time "chasing" the action rather than being part of it.
people say just use uplinks, but uplinks are a primary target and are easily scanned and camped. we need an alternative to uplinks for getting back into a fight without having to march across the map everytime.
i agree that we need bigger maps for vehicles. |
