I think I know what he's referring to.
The Big 4 recently released some high end weapons into open use like my Rail Rifle. I hadn't laid hands on that in a while, basically since I left the Ishakone Watch. There's a fair amount of chatter from the same suppliers that the latest models of dropsuits might be hitting the private market pretty soon. Probably some of the functions and features will be updated...nothing major but it will be noticable.
Some of the factions have been pretty loath to let out their high end kit or simply didn't have it ready for mass market till recently. My connections tell me that Caldari Heavy Dropsuits and possibly Recon dropsuits might be available in the next month or two. If that's true we might very well see Amarr, Gal, and Minmatar kit surfacing around that time as well. Additionally, one of our corp logisitics officers was contracting for some Kaalakiota rail rifles, hives, and sniper systems also got wind that the MagSec SMGs will likely hit open market soon as well.
Long story short I think we might be getting some fresh kit in the system.
The second half of the deal is really speculative. Some VERY quite buzz about one time use neural re-map treatments available in the near future. Word is that it would re-map some of your muscle memory and with some somatic conditioning you gain some technical skill sets like mastering a new dropsuit or weapons system overnight...the big catch is that they have to "re-format" the neural pathways so you lose something, maybe memories or other hard skills. Honestly, I think its all probably some smoke talk. Even if it wasn't I'm not sure I want anyone dipping into my wetware too much anymore. I can learn a new weapon or suit, I can't get my memories back if I loose them.

Each to his own, True. I can see where that would be important for someone with your background.
I'm pretty sure I'll keep building on my skill sets the old fashion way. I've spent a lot of time and effort working with Assault Scramblers and even though i'm a dedicated Rail Rifle operator I don't think those skills are entirely wasted now. They give me a different option if I need it somewhere down the line.

Well my initial training in Iesa III almost 9 years ago was formally in the role of operational recon and armoured force recon, and if the need was great enough operational effectiveness at both roles at the same time.
I spent the majority of my time at Ishakone working reconnaissance as well. Once I left and signed on with Mordu and now OSG i've been much more direct action oriented. If the new kit rumors are true I might just pick up on my recon skills again...it's been a while and I'm at the point where I want to diversify my skills.
I was thinking of combat logi but the scout trade keeps calling me.
