For the passed week, I've been running my rail tank. My fit is pretty decent for the amount of sp I have into tanks.
Gunnlogi [High slots] 2 Enhanced shield hardeners 1 Basic heavy shield booster 80GJ Particle Cannon
[Low slots] 1 Enhanced cpu upgrade 1 Basic light armor repairer
I've gone up against roughly 100 tanks since Wednesdays's cap reset. Finally getting a really good feel for how my tanks should work.
This is my problem.
I find a dmg modded Gunnlogi camping an objective with an armor plate on one of his lows. I immediately activate a hardener and start firing at him. He activates his hardener and his dmg mod/mods. I get him into armor while my shield are about to break (nearly 300-700 left). I activate my shield booster before my shields fail. My shields don't go up, and I end up dying while my heavy shield booster goes into cooldown....
Or this will happen. I find a Madrugar with an Ion Cannon. He's slaughtering infantry and any tanks unaware of his presence. I fire at him without my hardener up since he hasn't noticed me yet. He immediately activates his armor hardener and fuel injector. Usually they get off a few shots while retreating before I activate my hardener. I continue the fight with my shield regen stopped and get ready to activate my booster. By this time we're both nearly dead. I activate my heavy shield booster only to have his blaster cut into my armor and kill me.
I'd like someone to look into this please. The majority of shield tankers run dual hardeners + extender or dual dmg mods + shield hardener & armor plate. I was wondering why I hardly see any running with a shield booster. This bug may be why.
Dead on the ground.... Think I made a wrong turn :/

Doshneil Antaro wrote:The issue with Shield boosters is that they do not initiate immediatly. They take up to one tick, or one second. Activate them when your shields are at half when fighting rail turrets/tanks/forges. When fighting missles, hit them when you here them fire. Blasters are the only thing that you can hold out to 3/4 shield depleted.
Due to so much high end damage being applied, the shield boosters are not incredibly helpful. It is better to fit a scanner, booster, or anything else for survivabilty of your tank.
I pay attention to details like that in the module description and specs. If it's a rail, I usually take two hits and rarely a third before hitting my booster. Blaster tanks, I hit my booster around 500-300 shield left. Missiles, depends if they catch me without a hardener.
Scanners are better on Maddys with blasters imo.
