Thanks for adding me. Commando and proud, if not proficient ;) I'll be joining ARC later today when I log on, if only to make FoP stop pestering me about it hehe. I'd encourage anyone else here on the list to do the same. We're a solid little community, and I always enjoy hearing about how fellow commodes fit and run thier suit. I've yet to hear the same answer twice.
The commando is a great idea poorly executed, and I chose to play it on the basis that if I could make that suit work in such a strongly competitive environment, I'd be ok in the long run. Aero made some really pertinent points as to how we can strengthen the suit beyond the new skill bonuses, and I can only hope the the Devs take notice and consider them.
Roll on 1.8.

If CCP do intend to change the way damage profficieny skills and damage mods work in a fundamental way (they have said as much) then the commando racial damage bonus might prove to be very strong indeed at maximum skill level. We shall have to see. I think the key thing to remember about the suit is that it can fulfill almost any combat focused role with the right weapon load out. The Minnie suit in particular might just make swarm launcher based AV viable once more now that we've got a fairly solid confirmation that the bonus works on them. Two light weapons have always allowed you to have an unprecedented ability to dictate the terms of the engagement or, on the flip side, to have the right gun for that moment when you're caught flat-footed. My current load out of CR/RR/uplinks on a standard suit just works so damn well. Lots of other good fits out there,though.
It is, at the very least, a fun suit to create.
