If you didn't know already, matches that end during downtime never get recorded. This means that none of your assets are lost, your k/d doesn't change, and you don't win any isk or skill points.
So, I entered a downtime match and created a fit with a Gatsun's and two complex damage mods.
IT. WAS. AWESOME.
People were dropping from 50 meters like I was using an assault rifle... this gun was THAT powerful. I wish I had recorded it too (I'll make sure I do it next time).
I did end up dying once towards the end of the match by an ishokone nova knife charge attack. I think in practice you should run with a logi buddy and use two plates and a rep, but I was by myself so I was using two reps.
Eventually I want to try the Shotgun Forging again with the Gatsun's Forge. Back before 1.7 I would put two complex sprint mods on a heavy and run around with it shooting people in the face because of the 2.1 second charge time. Unfortunately it has been increased to 2.4 seconds, but it still has 6 rounds per clip and can hold a charge (the best part).
The point is, I wanted to see if this weapon was finally viable in combat just as the Officer ARs or Sniper Rifle is...and it passed with flying colors. Let's just say that I couldn't stop laughing the entire time I was using it. Next time I want to see EVERYONE running proto/officer gear in a downtime match :D

I would love you to see the chaos from an all officer weapons match, MIT also help decide which officer weapons are the best ones to have.... grant it I can't use mine yet so I guess I won't be taking part. |

If you got a logi with you, I wouldn't even take a rep mod, maybe a Reactive plate
If Preparation is half of the battle and knowing is the other half, Then there is no need to fight.

I remember when Uprising hit, I skilled back into my Heavy after the respec and proceeded to lose about 20 Gastun's because of crap HMGs... =/
Dang, speaking of Uprising.. I swear I had like 140 mil ISK upon its release. Now, I have like 16 mil, but only after grinding on Starter fits because I actually dropped down to a couple hundred thousand. |

If the weapon is an officer variant and as such is very rare - Hell yes make them damn powerful!

i get the downtime message but thought it kicked me out of the game, maybe i disconnected or voluntarily quit
cos i didnt think it would be worth playing the game then getting kicked off
so turns out you don't get kicked out of the game? so the message pops up, you have 5 minutes.
so wait 10 minutes to be safe and does it let you play more than one match in downtime?
tomorrow morning, say hello to Balac and Krin, 5x damage mods if it's true. |

When downtime kicks you, any matches currently in progress will not be counted for or against you.
All of your assets, skill points, and isk are calculated at the end of the match...so as long as the match doesn't end before it kicks you, you can run whatever you want.

Now if only any of my alts were skilled into any of the officer weapons. The best I can do now is Wolfman's Scrambler Pistols on my main.
