Call me an optimist, but I think CCP saw this coming (tank spam) if they lowered the prices. The did so to collect a lot of data on how tanks perform- Face it: they had 2 types of tankers to get data from- newberries in militia stock fits and big boy tankers who rarely died, anyway.
So this tank spam MAY have been intended so they can better balance tanks in the future- balance for EVERYONE. They're making bold adjustments to find a middle ground. Before, tanks were extremely hard to get into. Now, they're obviously way too easy. I feel they did this to find a happy medium quickly, instead of making marginal adjustments over several builds.

Kinda makes me think of this next event. The focus around Scouts makes it pretty damn clear they want to mine as much data on Scouts as possible for the rebalance of the suits.
Honestly, I think we might be seeing a cost reduction in suits the same way we did in vehicles. Among other things, the entire CPM is unanimous on getting rid of suit tiers and just having bonuses for the skill levels, so reducing the cost in addition would make sense.

Buy Caldari FW tanks. They will be worth a lot of ISK some day.
Also, buy Gallente tanks. They, also, will be worth a lot of ISK some day. IMHO, not as much as caldari for the initial purchase price.
These opportunities come along once in awhile as these guys figure it out.

If so, then they could've taken that $#!t over by Tranquility.
Forcing players to shovel 6-800k per match or get red-lined by WoT scrubs is a complete failure.
But I guess we might as well get 'em while 'der cheap. I already have 60 in stock just waiting for a price increase.

Quit Crying? Hypocrite much?
Also, am I mistaken or is Tranquility the test server? Then again, I thought Sony said no to having a test server for DUST 514.
Man, these forums are really starting to take a toll on my memory. I should take a break after this whole AV problem is solved.

So my thinking goes like this: A lot of people have AUR items , either suits or weapons or equipment , allow tank spam and lots of quick deaths and AUR sales go up. Same with the ridiculous TTK , the more people die the more money CCP makes. But what they haven't considered is the amount of people this is chasing away, I can hardly ever squad up with Corp mates anymore because so many have left.

MAY?
It should be fairly apparent at this point that this whole game is stress testing. Tanks (vehicles) specifically are being stress tested as of this patch;but, it's all play testing for the real deal.
There is no test server. This game going to console was for a reason GÇö built in test base. It would have been harder to garner that amount on the PC while trying to actually make money off the game. Also, why scare off their real player base (EVE players) at this point?
You think that is tin foil hat talk? No, that is practical business talk. That's how I'd do it.
FPS based game? A company with no experience in FPS games? Need investment? A tit for tat investment would work well? Don't have to ruin your rep in the PC market? A buit in large player base of younglings and not too serious kids that can continually enter through the revolving door of F2P?
Hell yeah, let's do it! No reason not to run it on said investor's platform until the important stuff is added (Hint: it ain't all the racial suits).
Why go through the trouble of attracting gamers on the PC to play test like they had to do with EVE? F2P on the Sony network is zero money spent on advertising. Zero need to attract anybody really. Just let them wander through.
Hell, they even admitted as much if you hear what they were really saying at EVE Vegas.
Face it console kiddies you are play testers. You will help design a wonderful game for the big boys.
Rommel, you magnificent bastard, I read your book!

While I agree with your overall stance on tank balance Atiim, that post wasn't one of your best, and was somewhat inflammatory. Hence COD's "quit crying" response.
Singularity (SiSi) is the test server, Tranquility (TQ) is the live server (for Eve & New Eden). But there are no Dust battle servers on SiSi, and no Dust client connectivity.

I suspect you are being a bit generous with CCP here, but hey, that's what "benefit of the doubt" is for, huh?
I think they (CCP) listened to the loudest voices in the community, responded to that, and have now discovered that there was a silent majority out there with a different opinion. Luckily, they have given themselves the ability to release regular updates, and have demonstrated that they are willing to use that to fix things.
In summary: CCP may not make the best game design/balance decisions, but they have a great process for getting it right in the end.
