Hello CCP
I have been playing this game since closed beta and I have loved and hated some of the changes you have made to the game. so since I overall love the game I have been trying to get my friends to join and I keep running into the same issue. they start to play and like the game but everyone say wow this is hard core so they are playing the academy and after a few games there bounced into the real game with little skill points and not much ISK. after being stomped game after game they quit and tell me that game sucks.
I think the problem is there not spending the time needed in the new player zones to come out and try to deal with us proto stomping A holes that we are :)
so I made a new account and started a new merc to see how bad it is after 3 games (I stomped the new players in the academy sorry) I was kicked to the real game 3 matches is not even close to the SP needed to deal with us long time players and there ISK is not good ether. and then I was getting my A handed to me in every match. now I know when I get this new toon skilled up I will be doing fine but it is hard to keep me on that toon since it is such a downer to play it.
I ask you CCP to keep the new players in the new player zone. we start out with what 500,000 SP I think why not keep them there until they earn 200k more or maybe start new players with 1 mill SP. I don't know but I do know if it stays the way it is now you will only keep the hardcore players and this game I love will never grow to what I want to see out of it. one day I would love to have my EvE pilot meet my Dusty on a station some place. |

Skill point wise , I wouldn't count the first 500,000 so I would have the players stay in the academy until they EARN their first million skill points . So that's 1.5 millions skill points . That would and should be long enough for players to get acclimated because they will see for themselves the player climb but it would not be that hard on and for them , players will be in their player base which would be not as hectic as just being thrown into the fray like it is now .

Amen brother!
This problem is compounded if the player is accustomed to fpses but not dust, since I recently invited a friend to play. He plays logi so after 2 academy matches he was kicked to real games, and he barely knew the control lay out.
Without a tutorial or pve, this issue will continue to prevent new players from getting involved, and the proto stomp will continue to make the community bleed players who might have stuck with it but got discouraged that after so many games they see no improvement.
Again, this problem is exasperated because in addition to all those aforementioned Things, noobs tend to mess up their sp, a lot. This needlessly extends the period that they are getting beat up by prototype soldiers. I really think 2 respecs, like for new players in Eve, would be really helpful here. |

I know that I did at first . I started out Mimi but placed my skill points into items that " looked good " to me but really did not suit the role that I wanted to play . Hell I didn't even know what role that I wanted to play at first because the whole aspect was entirely new to me . Too much for me to handle at once , so I wasted most of my skill points .
I loved being Mimi because of the underdog aspect and freedom fighting and all , also I loved the business aspect of being Caldari , I love the inventive and architectural aspect of building from the ground up but I hate to crunch numbers so I ended up being a Caldari , plus the slot layout is similar but it just seems like the Caldari is more stable with the extra lower slot .
Respec is another matter and you know is a touchy topic in this community but I'm all for the newer player experience , I'm going on my forth month so I'm basically a newbee myself .

heck it took me like 3 resets in beta before I started to get my game play lay out right but most new players don't have that time to learn before getting stomped out of the game. |

Let me reiterate. I don't think it should be universal. Maybe like 2 repecs until you get to 2M sp or something. Cap it at some skill level. Before that though, especially without militia variants of all the gear, noobs need that. |

Having the cap to leave the Academy that high will result in experienced players trolling and "skill-stomping" instead of protostomping. Right now it's tied to War Points, because while you can earn SP without actually learning the game, you get WP for actually accomplishing things. I do think there should be:
A: A minimum number of matches (say, at least 10)
B: A higher WP cap, to account for luck and logis.
C: The inability to use Aurum items (if you're in the Academy, you should be using almost nothing but Militia gear)
Death is a learning experience. I just wish I wasn't such a slow learner. >.<

You don't see your " skill stomping " now in the academy ??? I just made an alt and I seen it . Not even a day old but yet there were people using advanced gear and actually you can do that with the money and skill points that you first receive .
Look you will get " stomped " anyway but I would rather have it happen by players that are in my immediate range instead of by players with tens of millions of skill points backing them .
This game is not easy and it should not be . You people who are trying to make it so do so as a insult to someone else's intelligence . Want to play a " Baby " game , Nintendo makes plenty of those . They need to be in the academy longer . You don't need aurum items if you can unlock the gear that you would have spent the aurum on anyway with skill points . 500,000 is a lot of SP's and could max out a weapon , at least taking it to the proficiency stage which in many cases is good enough .
Number of matches means nothing . You can spend those matches harvesting SP's turning around in circles in the MCC . Players that would like to dummy down the game by making it " easier " would cause others to leave this game for a MORE CHALLENGING experience . People play this game for the challenge , well not those who want tierside or those who sound like yourself , even though I don't know you but your words leave one to question . You should not graduate off of war points but off skill point acquisition . At least 2 million total .
