I'm just a dumb fattie and have no idea what people are saying when they talk about tiericide.
Thanks CCP for making the HMG Heavy viable again :3
That's no excuse though to slack off on releasing a heavy laser =.=

Removing the straight stat increase between basic advanced and proto and having just one tier of suits which would most likely also include making fits that are more specialized to compensate for the lack of variety.

To my understanding, a good example of this would be the Armor and Shield Hardeners on vehicles in 1.7
The amount of damage they resist does not increase as you move from Standard to Proto, however the downsides they have do decrease (Increased duration, less cooldown).
You could see this with infantry modules as well, where all armor plates give the same amount of HP, but higher tiered ones have less speed penalty. Weapons could all do the same damage, but have less recoil or be more accurate.
Its an interesting concept, one worth exploring.

The term originated in EVE when CCP made it so all ships within a given class were equally viable in their respective roles. There are still tired ships in EVE (e.g. Omen, Navy Omen, Zealot, Legion). An equivalent in DUST would be making sure that Sentinels and Commandos of the same tier are roughly equal in their power.
Some people on these forums seem to think tiericide should mean removing the ISK vs. risk mechanics from DUST and turning it into a bad PS2 clone where you never have to make decisions like taking an ISK loss for the match to try to secure a victory. They would like to remove the single most compelling feature of DUST just to improve the NPE which could be solved in much better ways (like an optional second-tier academy game mode available to players with less than 5mill SP).

That actually sounds f*cking AWESOME! Is there a reason this wasn't implemented in the first place?
