I used to love this game, more than any other really. I spent every available minute thinking about or playing it.
Not anymore.
I got tired of lag, hit detection issues and just general terrible feelings from being destroyed by players ten times better or with ten times the amount of SP (all of which seemed to stack up against me all the time). The thing is, I used to be good at this game, and I don't know what happened but I can never seem to do well in a single match.
Despite all of this I still fervently defend Dust 514 as one of my favourite games ever, simply because of what it WILL/COULD be.
For Dust to become the most incredible experience in the universe, it needs PvE. I think if CCP adding it in any capacity then their funding would escalate massively. I would personally bankrupt myself in support of this game and I'm sure others would as well. I literally can't describe just how much PvE in Dust would make my life.
Please CCP, stick PvE into the game and watch the cash roll in like a snowball from the top of a snow capped mountain. |

Aikuchi Tomaru wrote:They want to do it. But when? Probably sometimes after all these new dropsuit changes and new suits rolled out and have been balanced. Might take a while. You're probably right, but imagine how many more people would play and fund the growth of the game if it was more than just a one-sided lobby shooter.
I love the depth of character development, and I love the customisation but it means nothing when you're against players of massively higher quality and/or SP (or massively under for that matter).
The only meaningful engagements for people who don't have huge corps is FW, which is also massively one-sided towards the Gallente, is full of team killing grief kids and doesn't really offer enough of a reward if you can even get into a match...
I do like the amount of polish CCP are putting into the game, albeit slowly, but it needs a new BIG feature to alleviate the tedium of getting destroyed.
I'm sure CCP are actually waiting to implement PvE for one of two reasons: - They want meaningful interaction between the PvE in Dust and for it to have some impact on EVE. - They are waiting to implement all the missing bits and pieces such as dropsuits and vehicles.
The problem with the first point is that there are hundreds of meaningful ways to merge the games, but most are probably not technically feasible at this stage. My personaly opinion that I hope others share is that people don't care about meaningful interaction. A simple game mode where you kill robots and earn ISK would do fine and should keep us placated until they develop the meaningful interaction.
The problem with the second point is that it will take too long and the game will die. The solution is to go with option one and just give us any form of PvE, no matter how boring or rudimentary. As long as we can develop our characters through ISK or SP then I'm certain people will be happy.
Come to think of it, there is a third reason that CCP are waiting to put in PvE: Because they don't want Dust to turn into a PvE game with PvP on the side, which I'm sure would happen as soon as PvE is implemented. |

CLONE117 wrote:i dont care how pve comes..at this point in time. it could just be 1 map with red npc turrets all over the place with the goal to hack a few objectives. Funnily enough I suggested this idea a while back. When Ambush OMS was largely unpopulated in the Asian servers, my buddy and I would just get in a tank and destroy all the turrets. It sounds boring but it was nice as a change of pace. If the turrets were turned red right at the start then PvE just got made in an instant and saved CCP worrying about the entire playerbase leaving sooner than they think. |

Melchiah ARANeAE wrote:I'd love to see PVE in Dust and it would alleviate its biggest problem. New players come in and get their faces stomped on by Q-synching Proto-abusing sphincter nuggets who have to completely ruin other peoples fun just to feel a small sense of self worth.
However, with PVE, new and old players alike could avoid these smears of fecal matter and have a much better Dust experience. Truer words were never spoken.
I do have another suggestion and one I have held in secret for a very long time: Maybe this game IS pay to win. I mean, I used to use my fiancee's account (she quickly grew tired of the game) after playing on my own account and noticed that lag was worse and I just generally did really badly. Now that it's been a very long time since I paid for anything related to Dust I seem to have all the problems she did when she never spent a penny on the game. Coincidence? I THINK NOT. |

Denn Maell wrote:If not PVE, then certainly marketplace would really get many interested. That was the big selling point wasn't it? A FPS tied into the Eve universe? I agree entirely but I feel like PvE would be tied into the marketplace somehow anyway, whether we're getting materials from drones to sell to capsuleers or just clearing their PI infrastructures.
Either way, a rudimentary PvE needs to happen soon otherwise Dust will fail in being what it should. I have a feeling that CCP could probably do with the money and given how easy PvE could be, I don't get why it hasn't been done.
Give us some red turrets on any map and I'll give you my money CCP. |

Ronan Elsword wrote:Ok so picture this. Take current AA, and give it to an AI. See the problem they would never miss you and you'd be insta killed. This might not be the case but it's one of the many things CCP must fine tune to not make it too hard or too easy. They don't want it to get boring or something only the best of the best can do. (Hopefully they'll have a difficulty level system based on what Sec level your in, but we will see.
I want PvE with a passion, but it needs to be near perfect. (This is why they need a Dust test server for all accounts that were in Closed Beta or something like that. To test things like this with CCP before release. More players doing the testing means we find the bugs faster and can give feedback.) People do like that challenge, like that which many people loved in Dark Souls. PvE in any form would be acceptable to me right now, I would even love something like the first mission in CoD: Modern Warfare where you have to beat a short gauntlet in a good time. Maybe even just put paper targets on the maps and let me go at it, or even just let me explore a district with nobody else there, some kind of holographic recreation.
PvE should have been done ages ago, and doesn't need any new assets if we get creative with what we already have. A turret based horde mode would be simple as we have the AI for the turrets and the ability for them to drop in from the sky. The mechanics are already there, we just need some imagination. |

Komodo Jones wrote:Last I heard CCP Mintchip announced that the dev team wasputting PVE on the back burner, and by that I mean cancelling work on the project until further notice, and I haven't heard anything about it since...I'd like for it to be in too, keep pushing. Same, and I just want even some new vid footage or something to let us know it's coming soon at the very least. Right now it feels like Dust is picking up speed with regards to getting things done but with so much time spent accomplishing very little in terms of actual content, it could all be a case of GÇ£too little, too lateGÇ¥. |

DJINN Jecture wrote:Without PVE I feel that this game is a bust. No interaction with Eve in any meaningful level means that we are not really a part of New Eden but rather the r3tard child that no one talks about. It is time for a change, time for Dust to become a major force in New Eden and time for something to care about. If this continues to be a COD look alike I may just go play COD. I agree, and I think that part of the reason we don't have PvE yet is because creating a meaningful connection to EVE is proving very difficult for CCP. However, CCP needs players to stick around for long enough for that to happen they. To do that they need to make PvE in any shape or form to keep people playing. |

The Black Jackal wrote:Pretty sure PvE is at the foreground of DUST development. I know personally almost everyone I speak to endorses some form of PvE, myself and other CPM1 Candidates also push the idea.
The issue is we don't have a roadmap for when to expect this yet (at least not a public one) and are taking things a patch at a time and not knowing exactly what will be coming up next.
PvE is time consuming (even a simplistic Swarm Mode takes a fair bit of effort to implement) and while we want to see it happen, what part of current development would we, as a community, be willing to give up?
Graphical Enhancements? Bug Fixes? Player Market? Future Content? (Minamatar and Amarr Vehicles, as well as the rest of the vehicles fleshed out.)
There's a tonne of other options that we could give up, but in order for us to get PvE, one, or most likely more than one, of the current development items will have to be put on the backlog. I know what you mean but I feel like right now PvP is just not cutting it. I am the CEO of a corp that has had roughly forty members over the last year and we were all a really close-knit group. I joined an alliance of more than a thousand players and I've slowly watched as people just stopped playing because they're sick of getting destroyed for whatever reason.
Dust is a game that now is supported only by the best players in the game, and if you're on their team then you're in luck. If not, say goodbye to any fun you thought you might have.
PvE in any form will change that though and like I've said before, anything from a rudimentary paper targets scenario to the partially finished drone infestation mode will be good enough to buy this game some more time. I would love to see a mode that was just this:
- 1-6 player limit. - Any map. - Installations are all red. - Installations could spawn in one by one like ambush OMS or all begin on the map. - ISK reward only/SP reward only (or smaller amounts of both).
It cant be that hard to make that surely, considering ALL of the assets are there. I used to play ambush OMS on asian servers (all empty) and just go around destroying all the installations because it was actually fun AND rewarding. |

DJINN Jecture wrote:CCP likes to surprise people with the new toys and not disappoint with unfinished promised features (like Dust). Expect PVE when Dust turns 10, then when it comes sooner you can be pleasantly surprised. It does seem that I would be doing myself a huge favour to heed this pearl of wisdom.
In seriousness though, I hope we get PvE soon, I've been unable to enjoy any game on the same level for a long time. |

I want to assault Sleeper Stations!
SpaceHulk/Aliens style corridors full of sleeper drones. The only supply and respawn we get is what we bring with us...
c'mon! I want a tactical challenge that isn't reduced to Proto+dmgmod+rail Vs Everything else. Are you psychic? This would be my ideal PvE, you bring a squad and outfit yourselves tactically so that you have all bases covered. I would bring a HMG, a Forge Gunner, 2 assault suits, a logi and a scout. Scouts would be all properly scouty and the assaults would carry the nanohives freeing up space on the logi to bring a rep tool, nanite injector and uplinks (or more hives).
Man I'm getting excited just thinking about it! |
