I play Ambush as my main game mode these days whenever I'm playing solo. Since 1.7, tanks have dominated in this game mode to such an extent that it is simply unplayable as an infantryman. Every game follows the same pattern; spawn in. Teams call in in tanks. First team to hit vehicle limit and co-ordinate the first push dominates the rest of the game, that team wins 40/0 or 70/0. Infantry attempts to counter with AV are largely futile, I don't think I need to go into why. It's an old story now.
Simply put, Ambush isn't fun anymore. I want to fix it without breaking tanks. Because they're fun. So, two suggestions to consider:
1)we ban tanks and dropships from standard ambush mode, making it an infantry only game mode. Preferably on much smaller maps to boot. It should be a test of your suits CQC capabilities, and yours.
2)in Ambush OMS we get the bigger maps back. All vehicles are allowed to be called in. But each team has a small number, perhaps two or three, of turrets which have significantly boosted defenses. My initial thought was to give them the same ehp as the CRU, but leaving their damage output the same. The idea behind this is to make them a tactically important location on the battlefield. Tanks can't just roll up to them and earn free wp by melting them; in a 1v1, only the very best tanks might come out on top.
So infantry get a solid counter to tank spam by having point defenses that can withstand fire from multiple tanks and give it back just as good. The best way to deal with them would be, then, to kill the operator, which would require getting behind the turret. A job suited to other infantry, no? Tanks and infantry supporting each other to overwhelm enemy resistance. What's not to like?
It would also make those orbital drops potential game changers; you think you have your enemy line breached when a turret drops on your flank and ah, crap, the scout hacked it and he's putting rail rounds through your hull. Retreat!
Apologies for the wall of text.
I just want to turn this game mode away from the meat grinder it's currently become without taking away from what vehicles already have and without separating them too much whilst allowing infantry to have access to a counter that doesn't involve everyone fitting solely for AV.
