Long ago CCP posted a picture of the 4 existing damage types: Hybrid Plasma / Kinetic / Hybrid Railgun / Explosive.
The Nova Knives appear nowhere.
To my knowledge it's just straight up damage.

If you wanna know, if both hits connect, the damage multiplier is 2.26666x for an uncharged swipe and 4.97777x for the charge swipe, where x is the base damage per single knife. So Ishukone Nova Knives with no Minmatar skill bonus or proficiency would deal 453 HP damage for the uncharged, and 996 HP damage for the charged (assuming both connect).
So if you can get your single knife base damage to around 261 HP, you are guaranteed to charge swipe OHK every medium or light suit in the game, as the highest HP suit, a fully tanked Gal logi, tops out at 1297 EHP.
This was made a while ago, I'm sure he knows now...
