Please take a moment to read this post regarding what should happen during the CPM elections.
At this point i would rather keep the old CPM and add in a few extra hands. Very few of you self nominated candidates put in what seems to be even a slight effort in your applications.
Granted i did see a few appropriate ones that are worth consideration, and when thinking about your vote i suggest you look for those people.
In reality though we need to re start the process, the level of complete incompetence in some of your applications isALARMING-. If these people somehow got elected, then this game would have some very rough times ahead. (no names mentioned)
The CPM is so important to the development of this game, this CANNOT be something we do with half measures. This has to be a well thought out decision that will forever affect DUST 514.
FIRST-I suggest that all applications be disregarded, if you care then applying again won't be a huge deal, we don't want people who aren't willing to put forth the effort. Second- All applications shall be considered by the community and voted on, that information should be processed and discussed with CPM and CCP. Third-. ALL NOMINATIONS SHOULD BE THE DECISION OF THE EXISTING CPM.... multiple nominees should be chosen for their respective category based on factors like, relevance, maturity, popular vote, problem solving ability, and most importantly HOW THEY COMMUNICATE WITH THE COMMUNITY, (in a 100% unbiased way) Fourth- The positions available should be more transparent, they need to be clear to the nominees what they are being nominated for. FIFTH, FINAL AND MOST IMPORTANT- We cannot cut corners when electing the people who are going to represent this community to the developers of a game that we love to play. Really until the game and the community matures more i don't even think we should be considering replacing the old CPM. I think the CPM is doing a great job right now, i think more could be done to improve it, but to ruin it with people who cant do the job right is not the way to go. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------thank you.
p.s. To answer a question i'm sure some people are asking..... No, i will not be applying in any position for the CPM , this is not an attempt to campaign. If nominated for a position by the public , the CPM, or CPP i will campaign the same as if i applied myself, i may consider applying if nothing changes and we are left with the same choices. As of this moment it isn't something that i plan on doing.

There's only one person two people I would even consider voting for(and one of them refuses to run).
Currently I favor only two of the CPM, Nova Knife and Iron Wolf Saber. I only dislike one. The rest don't offer there opinion publicly enough for me to really have an opinion on them.

The fact that nobody from the CPM0 is capaigning for CPM1 at the moment most likely means that they no longer wish to be part of the CPM. I don't think they would want a 2nd term. (Keep in mind, this is an assumption).
Along with that, jenza aranda said that she was (for lack of better words) "horrified" at what was in store for the CPM1.
fawkuima juggalo wrote: FIRST-I suggest that all applications be disregarded, if you care then applying again won't be a huge deal, we don't want people who aren't willing to put forth the effort.
As for your first part, does CCP even have an official ballot started? To my knowledge all that is happening now is that the people planning on campaigning are setting up their campaigns.
Has this changed? Am I "out of the loop?" Should I stop being a lazy @$$ and hop on the IRC channel?
Though I do agree with your other points. Out of all the CPM campaign threads that were created, only about 3-5 of them would actually receive my approval (or anyone with common sense's approval for that matter).
I think the main problem with all of these incompetent campaigners is well, their incompetence. Many seem to believe that being on the Council of Planetary Management [CPM] gives you 'power' towards the development of this game; when really you are a representative who acts as a bridge between the Developers and the Player-base, and giving information/feedback when appropriate (with regards to the NDA of course).

Fairly certain that CPM members cannot be reelected. At least if they follow the example of the EVE CPM.

1. There are no official applications or how to process yet, so not needed. I do say those that are saying they WILL run are a bit silly jumping over the bush without looking for a cliff. CCP may just add something that makes it very uncomfortable for you to run or outright disqualify you (ie your 16 and not 18, you have a travel ban ect ect) 2. Based on the CSM elections of the past this is likely to be a formalized preliminary based process 3. I vehemently disagree with this notion even in the smallest semblance. Seated CPMs can advocate and bless runners but never have any final say. 4. This is impossible, even as often as I talk I am not the clearest person to understand, then the shroud of the NDA over their head, adding into the mix a lot of people don't know what they're getting into. You can run on platforms all day long they mean nothing once you're seated and thrown your first curve ball over something that has nothing to do with the game. 5. Community will hopefully pick the best suited, it is best if we start educating the player the implications of the CPM seats and what it really means to them, the community and development of dust 514. As for the current CPM, its been a long term and long uphill fight overall and some of us are very exhausted from the work and will not be seeking another term if allowed. This doesn't mean those folks suddenly disappear after unseating.

CSM Mittani has been Chairman for multiple terms until recently. There has been a member in the CSM since CSM 5 I believe? Trebor was it? (there are alot of csm members I cant remember them all)
You also have to remember we do have Hans a former CSM member currently seated as a CPM member, his own experience has been near critical for the CPM's growth.

1. exactly, so previous statement remains the same, no application should be considered until AFTER it has been decided there will be a new election. Then it needs to be clear when its open to apply and when its closed. 2. sounds obvious when you read it but it was to open up to the third point. 3. because of ALT issues, dishonesty, and "popularity contests" i will reiterate my fifth point. I think the community needs to mature before we go head long into this. If ALL applications turn into nominations then well likely have some people be nominated or even elected to multiple seats from multiple accounts. Please make note that i said the NOMINEES and not the FINAL ELECTION 4. If we added a few categories to choose form i think it would be very beneficial to help the CPM organize their priorities. It would also give the players a clear view of who to go to for what sort of problem. .... FOR EXAMPLE: judge rham. would make a great dropship/vehicle CPM but i would question his usefulness when it comes to events or scout fittings. I dont think it would be a complete impossibility to add a few specific categories to run for, while keeping other spaces more broad and less specific. 5. Well IWS its sad to hear that, but it is more then understandable, i know its been a long run for you but i hope that you never fade from dust completely. I got a lot out of the CPM and all i can say is thank you, we all know that it can't be fun dealing with the trolls and cry bags of the dust community, but you kept this forum more stable than you know. Just do us all one last honorable justice and do everything in your power that this election goes smooth and as beneficial as possible.

Hi all,
I agree that the next CPM will be a crucial influence on the future of DUST 514.
In the spirit of the original post I wish the reaffirm/reapply for my candidacy for CPM 1.
Here is a link to my official campaign thread: Munch for CPM 1 Campaign Headquarters
The link contains my positions on many issues facing the game and answers to the questions put forth by the community.
I welcome any and all questions and comments and I monitor that thread regularly. Having said this I will do my best to answer general questions to the candidates or specific questions directed toward me in any thread.
Thanks for getting involved.

DEDICATED DUST PLAYERS.
I agree. However, you also want to ensure CPM are both familiar with EVE and understand what elements of EVE make it operationally successful in it's environment.
- I see a lot of ideas from people who don't know much about EVE that would be impossible to do in DUST because of EVE.
- I see a lot of suggestions from people which are bad, and we know they're bad because of EVE.
- I see a lot of EVE players who don't see value in DUST, and DUST players who don't see value in EVE.
It's going to be important that the CPM members understand why EVE works, why DUST doesn't, and how the two games need to work together in the same universe.
I'd like to be your CPM1 candidate

Iron Wolf, thanks for that response to the OP. I was cringing as I read the OP.
As far as the concerns the OP brings to the table, all are unfounded. CCP simply has to follow the pattern they've set with the CSM election process to have a successful CPM election. It's in the bag. No worries.
However, all CCP has to do to give a much needed boost to the health of the game is follow the patterns they've established in EVE, such as having four unique racial variant of suits and vehicles. Hopefully that can get done soon. |

These are my choices and it's only three people whom I would vote for .
* 1 : Judge Rhadamanthus - There has been few to match his effort to help the community with his instructional posts .
* 2 : KAGEHOSHI Horned Wolf - This man always is thinking of ways to help the game and make it more productive . He gives good advice and has great insight and his passion for Dust is unmatched by most .
* 3 : Cosgar - I almost forgot about this person , seeing as how I haven't seen a comment from him for a while until recently , he must have been on break from the game . This person has helped me so much when I was starting out and I owe a lot to his insight and advice . He might not remember but I do . Thank you Cosgar . I might have quit playing if it wasn't for him and a few more . He is very insightful and this is another person who is passionate about the direction of Dust and the community .
This order is not reflective of how or who I would vote for if I had one choice but these are my choices .
I have to mention others whom I believe are more than worthy of this position and I might leave out a few names but :
TechMechMeds - Cat Merc - I-Shayz-I - Keri Starlight
True Adamance - Arkena Wyrnspire
Charlotte O'Dell - Talos Vegheitan ( Even though he doesn't care about us snipers )
Bolsh Lee - X Ghazbaran ( Again with the video help , he works hard at what he does and his info is valuable )
I'm sure I left out a few more names seeing as how you have quite a few that give helpful advice , have positive input to give and respect for the community . Actually most that are in the community are great and is the REAL reason why I play this game .

i understand that this OP probably scares a lot of people running, but don't be such a puss. If you really cared about your position none of these things would be so bad. All of which make sure that good people for the job get elected, if your good for the job you should have nothing to worry about.
I understand that this post made some people 'cringe' (lol) but really there is no need.
The process for the CPM should not follow direct proceedings from the CSM, i have very little experience with eve but i am VERY familiar with DUST 514. Enough to know that the system cannot be the exact same for both, with that all my statements remain the same.
I really hope that the system can created in a fair unbiased way for all, i belive that giving the CPM more control over nominees will help that. I know that most of you disagree with this concept the most, but really its not that far off. What if it was simply the responsibility of CCP and CPM to check for alts or other things that could swing the election in an unfair manner. Not giving them FULL control (most of you jumped to that conclusion) But letting them excercise the power they already have to clean up the election a little bit.
I'm not saying that im absolutely right here, but I AM saying there needs to be a revamp of the current applications. The OP really was to state that, and add a few suggestions to make it better. The people who have the power to make this election right need to do so, this could be a "make it or break it" time for us. We need to make sure if there is new representation then they must do the job right, we as a community must fight for the best person to represent our needs...
thats all im saying, =).... so chill b

Well, more or less, but just being that representative, is that not a form of power? I think because of their status of community representatives they are closer to said community, and are in a perfect position to recommend nominees and help smoke out the alts. Obviously they dont have the power as you are thinking 'dev power' but they do have a power that extends above yours or mine, and in this case i believe it should.
