Basically if someone uses a cloak, do something where it is blatantly obvious that "HEY THERE'S A CLOAKED PLAYER SOMEWHERE," but since they're cloaked, they're still a b**** to find/spot.
Maybe have the cloak emit some type of "bent light field" or something that dropsuits can detect, so when a cloaked player is near, the HUD flashes red in the edges or something...idk. Players get a heads up that there's a sneaky bastard somewhere lurking about, while the sneaky bastard is hard to find in the first place - win win scenario.
With the built in "fire your weapon and the cloak depletes," snipers won't be able to dodge the "flashing red HUD" mechanic because as soon as they fire one round, boom, cloak fails and position is revealed.

Sometimes you've got to make compromises so that you don't wind up with a bunch of T_T the day after the cloak is released. Also don't forget that the active scanner will be able to scan anyone who's profile signature isn't low enough. If you think scanner spam is bad now, just wait for the cloaks to drop...might as well permanently keep YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED or SCAN PREVENTED on your screen at all times.

Or have it create phantom red dots like halo reaches, and halo 4s camo. You know there is a cloaked enemy there. But it also acts as a scanning scrambler for a small area.
Thereby making it a more team based equipment item.

I feel like doing that might be some sort of copyright issue since Halo coined it first, also DUST struggled performance wise with a lot of equipment, putting a bunch of red dots on the radar might cause DUST to act up as well.

Hmmm.... dampener and scrambler deployable items with a field of effect...hmmmm
Anyways I fail to see the opness of scouts (BTW I don't run scouts usually) every one keep acting like their gonna be invisible all the time when its probably going to be a 5-10 sec duration with a long cool down. If anything I invite it, as hopefully its pg and CPU requirements will slow down scouts and make them act more like scouts.
I would much rather a cloaked scout dome in to get 1-3 kills and run away after their cloak dissapates then the bunny rabbits we have now that hop around for a minute with a shotgun and manage to rack up the same amount or more. |
