All Shield and Armor skills maxed out with all turrets to prototype?
Funny thing is I'm a 'tanker' but only use it about 20% of the time, otherwise I run support BPO Logi.

Do you have to have all the skills maxed out? Pretty sure its a waste of SP in 1.7 since a militia tank in the hands of me can take anyone down... |

Because they specialize in HAVs? Why else would anybody call themselves a tanker? I specialize in Heavy Dropsuits, therefore I am a Heavy. Olaf specializes in Scout Dropsutis, therefore he is a Scout. Duke Killroy Javersmith the III Esquire specializes in HAVs, therefore he is a tanker/HAV pilot.
WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE SUCH TERRIBLE IDEAS ALL THE TIME?

Well I would consider that pooping while a baby was one of your biggest life actions, other than eatingand napping of course, but now its more of just a short beak in your day, so know i would not call you a pooper because it no longer defines you.
On the note of why im a tanker, Im a tanker because I do it to help my team stem the tide of other tanks and proto stompers, i dont do it for easy kills or cheep thrills. I would get in that tank if it cost 2-3 times as much, tho likely not if it was much higher than that. |

I'm not really a tanker in this game....yet. Pre 1.8 tanking was simply too unrewarding for me compared to infantry.
That said, I've played FPSs competitively for over a decade (mostly BF1942) and my primary role has always been that of a tanker. |

You don't HAVE to have them maxed out, but it helps. I will admit that with the way militia tanks are,my SP feels a little wasted, especially with the Sica Rail spam.

As a footman who got so tired of constantly getting sniped while the entire team is sitting in the redline and doing nothing, I decided to fool around with HAVs.
Quite frankly, I don't see the appeal. The issues with terrain navigation are bad enough as infantry - With a tank, I'm ready to smash my controller when I try to run away and get stuck in hill or something.
You must have quite a bit of frustration tolerance if you can call yourself a tanker. At least with dropships, I can be sure that I'm the one who ****** up when everything spins out of control. |

You get better at it with time and experience. Been tanking for ****....2 years now? I'm by no means the best, but I drive circles around these new takers simply because I have a lot more experience dealing with terrain.

I drive an tank more often then not, I'm okay at what I do.... perhaps its also a mindset thing. I go into games to win, but being a tanker means you can only attempt to facilitate that win my clearing the field.... as such concepts like capturing objectives, using the sockets, and winning and losing become somewhat.....ephemeral.
To a Texan like you, a hero is some type of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three Gunlogi.

Why? Because I've been tanking for months, even when I could get three shotted by Lai Dai AV nades. I've fought countless batlles in my tank against numerous other tanks and infantry, I've racked up plenty of kills and a few tankers names that I respect under my belt.
I still run the most expensive tanks I can fit, because you're not a tanker unless you can say "**** you scrubs, you've lost a few hundred thousand this match, I've just burned through two mil in five minutes, COME AT ME".
