What with that and the stats leaked for the new gallente logi - I honestly HOPE either scanners are being reworked or base profile Db is being reworked. Also - If we are cloaked do we still show up on the scanners or not? I would hope not unless there is some extra information to come from CCP.
Since Cloacking is visual and scan is based on sound (decibels - dB) I would imagine that you show up on radar regaurdless of cloaking.

Why, it's extreamly hard to hit what you can't see. Regardless of showing up on radar or not.

Free Beers wrote:Dear ccp, cloaks are a terrible fking idea. Also making scout just 1 things aka a cloaking camper is giving up. CCP once again you try force players to play a game you want it to be instead of actually listening and trying to improve the ACTUAL game we play..
Well, who exactly are the listen to? You? Me? Cause if they are listening to me, then they would think that cloacks are a good idea. So, who made you the king of ideas?

Actually, decibels do not necessarily refer to sound. Decibels are simply a gain factor. dB is also used in radar, power, and many other things.
I'm pretty sure it is based on sound because radar can't see through walls.

Krom Ganesh wrote:Son-Of A-Gun wrote:I'm pretty sure it is based on sound because radar can't see through walls. Yes, radar can. Typically radar uses electromagnetic waves that have longer wavelengths than visible light. These waves are absorbed and reflected fairly easily because of it. However, electromagnetic waves with higher frequencies like X-rays and Gamma rays can pass through walls. But these are also just as likely to pass through our bodies as the wall. Sound travels worse through solid objects than electromagnetic waves. In truth, there is no real world explanation for how the scanner is able to perform as well as it does.
Not Ecco location. It travels around objects the same principle as sonar. Also prolonged exposure to X and gamma rays will kill you. If you are useing a frequency with a long enough wave length to pa through walls it will also quite easily pass through a human. Have you ever looked at an X-ray picture? As well, you would have to have some pretty amazing equipment, necessary to between what part of the wave is being bounced of the wall and what part of the wave has passed through and bounced off another target then passed through the wall again. Given that the target you are looking for is much less dense than the one you are attempting to bypass... Good luck with that.

Sonar, as in the equipment used to achieve the ability to ecco locate under water. The equipment and the act are not the same thing.

What is up *****es!
I knew there was a reason I thought it was sound. I've read that before.

I knew there was a reason I thought it was sound. I've read that before. while the scout suit may decrease our sound signature... Active Scanner wrote:Sending out a triggered pulse of high-frequency magnetometric waves and interpreting the results with an uplinked onboard computer, the Active Scanner gives ground units a snapshot of enemy positions. Projection nodes set at specific angles on the hand-held device, generate a vectored impulse capable of extracting objects from high-noise environments. Feedback from the pulse is filtered to reduce ambient clutter and pinpoint targets lacking IFF signals. the Active Scanner does not use sound.
Well then they need to get their story strait.
Or
On board suit equipment could be using different tech.
