I know a lot of people will be upset about the hacking bonus being lost for minmatar logi...what if it became "minmatar logistics proficiency"?
And then we could add other passive skill bonuses to dropsuits, like the minmatar assault having a speed bonus for its preficiency. Baiscally passives to the suits and not to items equipped onto the suits, since the new bonuses are mostly item based.

This would actually make suits specialized. I would suggest making the skills for suits lower on their multiplier. Yet, have the proficiency skills be 6x-8x instead. |

i don't believe they can do this due to their tagging system.
i remember similar suggestions awhile back being shot down because of a garbage tag system that was never explained. |

It would be cool, but stacking a lot of bonus in 1 kind of suit is not good. I would give a different bonus to the basic frame, then this bonus would pass to the both the specialistic frames.
For example, minmatar medium frame should have a bonus on hacking, i can say 3% per level, if you have lvl.5, it's a 15%, it's not 25%, but still good. Then you will have the 15% on both assault and logi.

And +1, as long as the proficiency bonuses are 'weaker' than the main suit bonuses - i.e. a small speed bonus for Min Assault Prof is weaker than the proposed main damage bonus |

This isn't a bad idea either, I'll add it to the OP.
The frames should get some love too.

I hate having more SP sinks, and I never thought the hacking bonus belongs on a logi (would fit more on the scout), but this kind of thing would be necessary for me if CCP goes through with removing the Amarr assault's laser weapon heat reduction bonus for a stupid armor repair bonus. I support this if it means the Amarr assault's proficiency bonus can be heat buildup reduction for laser weapons.

This is a good idea, but what if we just made these old bonuses into new skills that are seperate from the suit itself?
Though having two skills that both give +5% hacking speed per level would be a bit awkward.
Just my 0.02 ISK

Then it wouldn't be suit specialization really. The idea here is to keep some of the cool role bonuses that some suits get right now in the game for those specific suits. If it was a bunch of separate skills things would just become a disaster unless you could only skill into one of them.
For instance, having a heavy with the hacking bonus, and the amarr laser bonus, and something else...
If you were worried about sp cost, I'd say it would be just the same as weapon proficiency or any of the current passive bonuses we have for all dropsuits (like the normal hacking bonus or the pg/cpu bonuses). level 3 is easy to get into, but level 5 takes some dedication.
And they don't have to be the same bonuses either, just as long as they keep the cool, unique ones.

BAD idea. We do NOT need to increase the gap between new and old players even more. Basic suits are already bad for being the same as assault suits, but with no bonuses, and still cost more.
Minmatar Logi bonus should have never existed in the first place, that was a scout bonus. Logis are currently going through the QQ stage since they discovered they will no longer be the one man army machines of death.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

I can't wait for my core focused repair tool to heal for 220 hp/s :D Triage will be at 90 Proto will be at like 110 with two beams
Oh, and then a 50% increase to range means I'll be healing 30-50 meters away. I could effectively sit on top of a small structure and heal people fighting on the ground.
As for the core focused, the extra 5 meters will remove the only downside to the equipment. The extra armor that assaults will be getting, and the damage reduction on heavies will mean that I can keep more people alive simply by keeping the beam on them, and 220 means I can heal them up and get rewards even faster.
The loss of the passive armor repair isn't too much of an issue for me since the extra reduction in cpu/pg to my equipment will actually let me run my healing hives along with a decent repair tool, while still having the same module setup.

Another idea would be to put the more wanted bonus on the light/medium/heavy frame suit...so instead of creating a separate skill, you could get the bonus from the frame suit that's supposed to be something in between logi and assault.
Just tie it to the skill book for the basic unspecialized suits. Then there would be a reason to skill past level 3.

Actually if you look at the most recent data released by CCP on vehicle skills, you'll see that they're tentatively planning to add a "Race Advanced Operation" skill which offers an additional skill to train which stacks another bonus on top of the racial bonus. Keep in mind these are just blank entries so there is no way to know for sure if they still intend to go down this path.
