First and foremost this is a suggestion, I'm open to and would appreciate feedback. I say feedback not "I think this is the stupidiest thing ever", I want "I think this is the stupidest thing ever...[reason(s)]"
Make it so the scanners are hold-to-scan and the target only stays scanned as long as they are in range and are actively being scanned not unlike vehicle scanners i.e. no lingering effects if target leaves scan range or scan has concluded.
Introduce a charge/recharge mechanic similar to the heat mechanic of laser weaponry, as you scan the charge depletes at a fixed depletion rate after a small delay the scanners begin to recharge at a fixed recharge rate
eg.
Numbers are made up for illustrative purposes
(depletion rate(%/s) -- recharge delay(s) -- recharge rate(%/s))
Narrow: 6.25%/sec -- 1sec -- 5.00%/sec <-- results in 16s of continuous directed scanning, 20s recharge from empty to full after a 1s delay
Wide: 20%/sec -- .3sec -- 15%/sec <-- results in 5s of continuous directed scanning, 6.66sec recharge from empty to full after a .3sec delay
Give scanners their own scan profile (would be the level at which it scans) - If a suit being scanned has a scan precision that defeats this they will be able to see where the scan originates from.
TL;DR: Make scanners work like a really fancy flashlight |

HEY!
I'm calling you out for choosing a name similar to mine!
IDK if i should be flattered or not, but Asha is close to Aisha and Starwind is from Gene Starwind in Outlaw star in which my name "Aisha Ctarl" (Clan Clan was taken) was based off of.
WHO ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO BE ME?!
