Hi to all,
(hopefully this is a General Discussion topic)...
In short, I tinkered a bit with the beta version a year ago when I bought my PS3 (came with some codes/promo pack for some 'free' AUR, etc.)... and always got my butt handed to me (I'm an ~older on-and-off gamer type and actually had never played a fps before)... and basically just gave up after constantly getting fried by (sorry guys) what I'm assuming/whining about were teams consisting of a bunch of mass driver noobs. :)
Anyways, my 13 yr old son and his friend told me that they just started playing last week and they think I'm crazy and actually had a ton of fun playing it... so, TODAY I decided to try once more, and so I created a new character, with a new PSN account I've been using, etc...
My question is simply, is there any true benefit to taking advantage of the old account during this revisiting of the game I am about to embark on, given 1. (Note: I haven't a clue when I LAST used it, I'm guessing it was before the May launch but/yet...) I somehow have for this older character almost 6 million ISK, almost 10 million SP and still have 2,500 AUR left over from what I think was initially 15,000 AUR due to the promo pack), compared to 2. The character I created today using a newer PSN account, which starts me out with 250,000 ISK, 500,000 SP and 0.0 AUR to work with
In a perfect world I'd just stick to #1 but I hardly ever use that PSN account anymore in general (was/am trying to keep all my ps3 play to within this newer PSN account, I dunno I'm weird like that), am under the impression that I am not able to just transfer the game data from #1 to the newer PSN account, and so I was just hoping some of you could chime in your thoughts on this. For example, assuming I don't give up this time around, if it's only a small number of game play hours before I reach the ISK and SP numbers I have on #1, then perhaps I'll just suck it up and not bother using this old character that I have, that's on an older PSN account that I never use anymore.
It's not a world-changing inquiry, but thanks for reading nonetheless; I spent an hour or so googling around but didn't find much about this... regardless, looking forward to seeing how I hold up this time around :p
Cheers, T.E. |

Awesome... I just dug around for another few minutes to figure out what seems to have happened (guessing at some point while I was absent from the game over this past year that my (or maybe everybody's upon launch back then?... and/or if one chose/chooses to?) SP were all reset, aka became 'unallocated' ... anyways, so I check back up here and wow... these replies have been great. Sorry about the ignorance and thanks for responding despite it.
I'm definitely going to fool around with the old character but without allocating a single SP until I figure out what my likes are/what I'm good at and so forth. The suggestion to spend the time researching the matter was key... not to whine at all, but I just didn't want to invest all that time right away since I did that last year... only to constantly get destroyed and eventually just walk away... OK OK I'll stop...
I will admit here, as I felt a year ago, that the concept of Dust 514 is freaking stellar imo... Hoping this time around I'll be able to survive more than a few nanoseconds. Ha. Wish me luck :) |
